I was mooching around a local convenience store, Indian owned, big surprise, when I asked if they had any nasal snuff around. None on the shelves but the owner went into the back room and emerged with two different Indian snuffs. One small can, which he generously let me have, was something called Sri Ambal Officers Special. Dark, smoky, exotically spicy and musty, but quite good I think so far. The musty part is likely due to the battered can having sat around for years. It wasn't overly dry though. I'm liking it so far, after about 4 pinches. He claims he can get it for me if I want some, and cheap too. I'm thinking I do.
The other snuff was his double-secret high-octane super snuff which was in an unlabeled slender beige plastic tube with a twist top. He shook out a tiny amount of very pale tan coarse powder and bade me sniff. Good lord what a kick--heavy menthol, huge nic hit from a tiny little pinch, much sneezing and eye-watering, wowsers. He claimed that the tiny, less than 5 grams tube, was not only the strongest snuff one could buy but also that it cost the equivalent of $25 in India. Hard to believe but I have no reason to doubt him, on either count. It was some serious head banging stuff.
