While not a snus, these would seem closely related, as they are smokeless, spitless tobacco products that are made in Europe.
I happened upon a tobacco store that was selling these next to my house. I had seen them advertised on several different snus websites, and the owner kept talking about how difficult they were to get (these were the US flavors, not the European ones). I decided to grab a pack of Original, since that is one of the same flavors that is available in Europe, and it appears to be the exact same thing.
I opened the somewhat expensive little box, and inside was a vacuum sealed pouch that had what looked like tiny, brown, shiny tic-tacs in it. I opened the pouch, and took a wiff. My first impression is that it smells like an odd beef jerky. When I got a closer look at them, I was suprised to see that it looks like small bits of beef jerky as well.
The package said to tuck it between your cheek and gum, and leave it there. I did that, and could not taste anything, even after 15 minutes or so. I then read the webpage, and it said you could chew it to get the nicotine faster and have more flavor. I chewed it a bit, and this strange, thick sugary-jerky-tobacco taste ran down the back of my throat. Not quite unpleasant, but strange. I chewed it until the twisted bit of tobacco came a bit open, and tucked it back against my cheek. They also said on the website to leave them in for an hour, as they continue to give off nicotine.
I have not really felt much of a nicotine satisfaction from it, and in fact, after about an hour I had to immediately take it out and pop in a sterk portion. The website says that it is a rolled up tobacco leave that is then sugared, twisted and then cut into the small bits. It also claims that there is no added nicotine, so it maintains its natural levels. If this is true, I can see why I am not getting much of a nic hit from it, since it would only be a small fraction of a tobacco leaf (maybe the equivelent of 3 or 4 puffs from a cig worth of tobacco). If it is not raised for maximum nicotine yield (like I believe the sterk snus are), then it would be lacking.
These really don't seem satisfying at all, the taste is a bit off (and mine was well in date) and they don't really even have much of a nicotine punch. They are also fairly expensive, costing more than most cans of snus. About the only positive I can say is that these truly are discreet. They sit inside your mouth with no noticeable bulge in your cheek, require no spitting and would appear to be candy to someone not specifically looking for it. That's about the only reason I could suggest these. Other than that, if you have no reason to need to be discreet in your tobacco use, I suggest to avoid.
