If I could go back in time for only one reason, I'd go for a pack of luckies from then.

    Maybe a carton..

I wonder how much a pack of WWII smokes would fetch on ebay.

nevermind, I found a pack without the special tax exemption stamp here

        http://cgi.ebay.com/WWII-PACKAGE-LUC...item439f6a9c6c

They are going for over $15.00 now and the auction still has some time left. I would have never thought that a pack of smokes would be a collectors item!

You should save some full tins of pre ban snus. They'll be worth some money in 60 years or so :^D

Good idea but by that time possession of a tobacco product will probably be a felony!

I just saw a carton of Camels on ebay from the 40's or 50's for $199.00. Wait a sec... isn't that what they cost now?

I rarely crave a smoke anymore and I am quite happy about that. In fact, I crave snus far more than I crave a smoke. After years of struggling with smokes, I can't believe that we have a product that makes it easy to quit smoking.

^Word. But I find myself craving a type of smoke that is not even produced anymore, a type of smoke that even the smokes I started with were only pale resemblances of. I am not trying to romanticize smokes by any means, more just reminding myself that the idea of a cigarette is a whole hell of a lot better than a cigarette itself.

I for one don't want to smoke 60 year old cigarettes. Week old Marlboros were bad enough. If you want a place to smoke inside Japan is your only developed country for now. I'm sure the cigarettes then taste different since they had three times as much nicotine and tar.

OK, I am a bit curious now. I have read some of sage's posts about aging pipe tobacco that make it seem like the older the tobacco is the better. Why are cigs and snus different?

A lot of it might be moisture level. Also, the paper on cigarettes go bad, and that affects the flavor. I bet if you moistened cigarette tobacco, and rolled it in a decent paper, it would taste fine. Snus? Some of the subtler flavors wash out over time, but it keeps pretty well cold.

Well, for one thing, pipe tobacco is aged in airtight containers. Exposure to air is what makes tobacco go stale, not to mention that it can introduce mold. And not all pipe tobaccos get better with age. Primarily, it seems to be the blends with a high percentage of Virginia tobacco that age the best. Age doesn't seem to do much for Burleys, and Burley is the main ingredient used in most cigarettes.

Holy damn, I had one of those last year with my friend, but it wasn't pre rolled so we used a pipe Best tobacco I've ever smoked, really.
