    Afghan Naswar Tobacco

My buddy gave me some naswar tobacco yesterday to try. It's basically dried tobacco ground very fine mixed with tree ash and lime paste or "slaked lime" for nicotine uptake and added burn. It was kind of rocked up like alkaline powdery substance are wont to do, so I put what was the size and color of a pea in my lower lip for about 30 minutes. This stuff is used mostly by the Pashtun ethnic group in Central Asia (yeah yeah, Taliban tobacco if you must lol). He siad I should spit or I would get sick, like dip, but I didn't need to spit. It was pretty strong in the nic department for sure. I didn't enjoy it that much, but always glad to try some new tobacco format.

Then we got into a dip discussion and a disgreement because he called me a hypocrite for using what is just "dip sewed up into a little teabag"... lol I gave up. He's a really smart SOB, he can figure out snus for himself if he wants. He sometimes uses Chaini Khaini straight from India that come in little Discreet-like pouches, so he's just being an asshole. After hanging out with him a lot since his return from Afghanistan I'm kind of sold on the Chaini Khaini. I hope the "Spice" they sell in Sweden is the same as his pouches with Hindi script. Tastes just like betel nut. Anyway, back to the naswar:

I couldn't find any pictures of the final product, just a bunch of tobacco leaves. Looks like green powder.

No, I only took a chunk out his container. I'll see him tonight though, maybe I'll get adventurous. Since lime is used for oral applications (and outhouses), I doubt it would feel too good nasally. Maybe worth a try though, just for the hell of it.

I'd try it, but I don't think I'd like it.

Beware slake lime is some nasty high alkaline stuff. Careful with sniffing it.

            was it this?

I bought this during the summer on Edgware road in London (Heavily muslim area). I was in search of snus, I did not know it was illegal to sell in in England. I asked one guy in a grocery type store about mouth tobacco (and about khat, but that's OT), he said that there is a store that sold this thing called "shammah". I think it's naswar, but it may be different. So I went to the store, bought it, and on my way out I tried it. I pinched a small pinch and put it in my lower lip, like the guy at the store told me, and boy did it burn. In about a minute I felt a huge nicotine hit, in between smoking a cigarette and snus. I think it's pretty good, but something about it screams mouth cancer.
Last week I went to search for it on Edgware road again (actually I had other plans, but was in the area), I went to the store where I bought it, and the guy says he doesn't sell it, and tells me to go up the road (I didn't), then I went to the guy that sent me to the store, and he says, nobody sells it, because now it's "forbidden" (new laws, what?).I'm certain that even if it is forbidden, there are some guys selling it in convenience stores anyway.

Kuber Khaini is the first no-spit oral tobacco that I used back when I lived in India in the '90s- switched back to smokes when I returned to the US though (once I ran out of packets of the KK). It's similar to the Chaini Khaini white portion snus, but I'm positive its got some less safe/more high octane ingredients than the Indian Khaini.

Kuber Khaini is largely exported worldwide (I'm not sure if it's legal to sell in the U.K though0

All the B2B portals have it on stock though .... http://www.alibaba.com/product-tp/10...G_TOBACCO.html

Thought it was the same as the Red Makhla, I guess I'll have to try it now. :P

I did try that Black Snuff the other day, craziness.
