Are those bottles of Sprite, Mountain Dew, RC Cola, and Dr Pepper, they use to flavor it with?

I thought I had remembered seeing this thread some time ago. I got a pinch of this from an Afghan soldier today. He had 2 types. One was the green stuff in the can. Nothing special about it other than the taste sticking with me half the day. The other came in a brick wrapped in cellophane. It looked like camel shit (and didn't smell much better). I broke off a small bit and formed a pris and popped it in. Didn't notice any nicotine from either, but I had also just spit out a pouch of thunder. I was later told by one of the soldiers from New Zealand not to trust the stuff as it often has opiates in it. DOubt that was the case as I felt absolutely nothing from the stuff, but it was interesting to try nonetheless.

precious, don't be silly and declare something unsafe based on a facebook group. We get treated to pictures like that for all oral tobacco in high school. They particularly harp on dip, despite the fact that you're so much more likely to develop oral cancers from smoking. I'd be down to try it once or twice myself if I came across it, and I'll wait on some sort of solid scientific study to be done on it before I just write it off as unsafe.
