What i'm smoking in my pipe.

Just got myself a mini corncob but hope to get a corn cob a little bigger perhaps a Missouri Meersham when i get paid. And i bought some Mac Baren Mixture Scottish Blend - something to get me by this next week when in the sunshine and snus stocks are running low in my fridge.

Cool. My uncle smoked a pipe and any time he sent me a package it smelled like cherry or vanilla pipe tobacco. Smells very nice!

I've taken the pipe back up--just 1 or 2 bowls a day--after putting it down for several years. I needed to quit smoking cigarettes, and it ended up that pipe smoking needed to be part of that. It's a real pleasure now, though, since I am smoking it simply for enjoyment.

If you like Mac Baren, you should try their 'Dark Twist'. It's a simple Virginia/Cavendish blend that comes in a roll cake. Pretty nice smoke.

For me, it's a meerschaum Churchwarden full of McClelland 'St. James Woods'.

I tried smoking a pipe a few times and really enjoyed it. The problem is I found lot's of evidence linking pipe smoking to cancer so I don't use it anymore. I am guessing that burning tobacco is bad no matter how it is consumed.

There will be studies linking it to cancer for sure but to my mind it is the safest form of smoking tobacco.

I considered my pipe to be the best nicotine delivery vehicle but then I found snus. As for pipe tobacco, I would recommend MacBaren's Stockton, Navy Flake, and Virginia Flake along with the Dark Twist. Gawith's Full Virginia Flake is very nice but often sells out so can be hard to find at times. Both Bull's Eye Flake and Luxury Twist by Peter Stokkebye are very good smokes. You cannot go wrong with McClelland's St. James Woods, either, that was an all-time favorite of mine.

                  +1 !!

I've always kinda found McClelland's English and Oriental blends to be kinda middling, myself. But when it comes to matured Virginia and Virginia/Periques, McC is very difficult to beat.

Every time I opened up a new can and was greeted by the smell of ketchup I knew something good was about to happen. Also used to buy McC 2015 by the pound, it was my everyday tobak in the pocket pouch. What is really weird is that even though I haven't smoked my pipe much since last fall I still carry the pouch, tool and the 2 pipe lighters with me. A little part of me doen't want to give it up, I guess.

Probably correct, but the risks are there. Pipers don't seem to get lung cancer or emphysema very often---unless they inhale, and inhaling unfiltered pipe smoke is just foolish in my opinion.

But, it does seem to carry some cardiovascular risk similar to smoking. And, head and neck cancers are not uncommon in pipe smokers. I remember reading some years ago that Keith Olbermann(of TV News fame)had to have a small tumor removed from his soft palate, which had developed precisely in the place where the mouthpiece of his pipe usually rested. The tumor was benign, but he still quit immediately.

So the safest way to smoke? Probably. But certainly riskier than oral tobacco or nasal snuff.

True... i hope you're right that oral tobacco is safer!

ive always wanted to try Peterson but its a lil steep for the size tin (im guessing its quality stuff tho) when i can get a couple oz out the jar for about half price.. not that i even smoke my pipe regularly
