    Anyone else smoke a hookah??

So there is this new, Turkish coffee and hookah bar that has opened up near me. Noticed it a month ago, have learned they have been open since October. So today is the first time I have checked it out. The biggest thing I was hoping is they were open late. My normal cafe started closing at 7 6 months ago. I have another cafe I have made my home but they close at 10:00 Su - Wed.

So I just learned that this place is open till 1AM and 3AM on the weekends!!! I am sitting here enjoying a Turkish cofee right now. I had no intention of making use of the hookah aspect, but the young lady working here is SO adorable, how could I not. So she is busy getting that ready for me. I showed her my snus and snuff, so why not try a hookah. I know it is best shared with other people. but who knows, hang out here long enough I am sure to meet some cool people to share with. But for now, I am just so excited to further explore my love for tobacco.

EDIT: So now I am smoking the hookah!! It's like a giant bong

Seriously, this is some of the nicest tobacco I have ever smoked. I got a fruit flavored tobacco. It is SO mild. Sigh....now I have a bunch of new hookah flavors to try. You know, i spent 33 years smoking, I NEVER had to make a decsion. Now between snus, snuff, and now this hookah thing, I have too many choices. Life is so unfair.

I used to use the hookah a lot. A whole lot actually. At some point I just got bored with it and give all my hookahs away along with all the stuff that goes with it.

The flavor is without comparison and a real treat. If we had a hookah bar near here, I'd hang out there from time to time, but these days, snus, snuff and the pipe serve me wonderfully.

    Puff away, it's good stuff.

I am truly enjoying it, but know this is not something I would do all the time. i already smoke enough dope so my daily abuse of the old lungs is still covered.

But as an occasional thing I go do when I am out, it is most definitely a keeper. A tad expensive, about $15 not counting the tip I gave to Ms. Cutie. But once or twice a month, definitely!! Or find some friends so the cost is shared.

But I really am grateful. have known about hookahs for a long, long time. just never had the chance. But as my love for tobacco, finally freed of the cigarette curse, continues to expand, I love the opportunity tokeep exploring all the wondrous ways humans have figured out to make use of this precious plant.

Hey sage, does that come with a slice of baklava? No seriously, I love Turkish culture, been to Turkey several times. Great people, really warm. Never tried the hookah, sounds interesting.

I tried it once, but I couldn't inhale it without choking... It tasted nice though...

I've had zero problems inhaling. It is really the most gentle tobacco I have ever smoked. And no baklava, don't think that would work with my diet anyway. But I am watching Turkish music videos. So the world is really sweet now. Plus I think I am in love with the girl behind the counter.

I'm not sure what Turkish women look like, but right after we invaded Afghanistan, Afghani women were all over the news. They're some of the most amazingly beautiful women in the world imo :^)

I don't know where cutie is from, she is blond and very European looking, not that makes a huge difference. But she isn't from the US.

Really cute, and really sweet. I think I must come back here again. And again, and again, and then again again.

OMG, she just smiled at me, I think I might be in deep trouble here.

And can you think of anything bette to spend it on???

There was definitely something going on there. She was looking at me as much as I was her. And the way she smiled at me as I left.....

So new Saturday afternoon routine I think. Another reason to leave the house is good for me.

Used to have a hookah and used to smoke it about three hours every evening. Lots of shops, especially ones run by trendy westerners rather than knowledgeable easterners, tend to be pretty hit-and-miss when it comes to setting them up properly. Smoke should be so thick that you almost can't see through it when you exhale, and so smooth that you almost don't feel it. Ice in the bottom is luxurious. If they don't put any in, I would ask next time for a few cubes to be thrown in. It makes a world of difference. You can blow smoke rings that are so cold they level out flat and sink

I own 3 hookahs and still enjoy them. I am kinda a hookah snob and I find most hookah joints do not use coals I like (Not a fan of round quick lights) or they do a shitty job with hookah set up or they do not use tobacco I am a fan of. It is also more fun to be the hookah master in my own house and it is cheaper. I have them on display in my bar and have printed out a history of hookah sheet for guests that do not understand they are not bongs. My wife hosted a mom's night in at our house one night for all the other mom's in her play group and I was forced to answer a lon of questions but my the end of the night I had my 36 inch pipe set up and all the mom's where having a great time taking rips on some orange shisha. http://www.hookahforum.com/ is a good group if you want to learn more about hookah.

I like smoking hookah from time to time. Most of the hookah bars I've been to play terrible music though. When I'm sitting around stoned and sucking raspberry smoke out of a hose, I don't want to hear the newest Kanye West or Avenged Sevenfold album. ****ing put on some traditional middle eastern music or some jazz... something, gee I don't know, RELAXING and BEFITTING OF THE MOOD OF A HOOKAH BAR.

And whatever it is, turn it down. I go out to hookah to hang out and talk with friends, not shout at them over some asshole's totally gnarly riffage or overpowering bass frequencies.

As I mentioned, this one plays Turkish Music videos. And not too loud either. It was perfect, I thought.

Gonna go back today as well.

My mom's side of the family is from Lebanon with Armenian blood. While my mom detests smoking my uncle Ziad is a regular smoker, and he has a couple hookahs. Along with that my cousin Elie has a couple as well, and now my sister too. When we all get together we set one up and fire it up. It's some of the mellowest tobacco I've ever smoked, and I never had any trouble inhaling it. Never got much of a buzz if any, but the flavor is fantastic when you find some quality stuff.
