I have done this in the past. It takes FOREVER to come, but you do get a lot of tobacco. Not many I liked but it was nice tasting them all.

a corn cob pipe isn't expensive, and is the best smoke there is, cool & dry. only problem with it is they won't last for years like briar pipes do, but for $5 who cares, replace it once a year.

when I was a kid we used to make our own corn cob pipes and smoke em behind the barn. Nowadays I see the kids crush an aluminum can, put a hole in it and smoke what looks like a wee bit of white soap in it. It must taste awfull. Kids today...geez.
