Ooooh, popcorn lung doesn't sound fun. I ordered Coconut 24 mg/ml, Watermelon 24 mg/ml and RY4 24 mg/ml ("Wizards Mix Standard" from Ecigwizard). I have no idea if Coconut and RY4 counts as the buttery flavors. I mailed the company though and asked if the flavors I ordered and if their liquids in general contains diacetyl.

I don't know, but I'm starting to regret paying $100 for the ecig now, because although the majority of people say it's safe, when people have had such severe reactions to it, you start to wonder. I haven't gotten the ecig yet though, but hopefully tomorrow.

EDIT: Sounded like a wrote that I hope to get a severe reaction tomorrow... I meant the ecig of course in my mailbox, lol.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Yes, I have already cut myself severly on loose snus, and got ass cancer by portions, so I will definitely be careful with that Ecig!

I have been using ecigs steady for almost 4 years now after smoking for 22 years , my breathing is great now , my doctor says my lungs seem that I had never smoked !! I think you may have a PG allergy if you are having issues try a 100% VG liquid and you should not have any problems , check out http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ for tons of info on ecigs and health concerns . My doctor is fine with the use of ecigs I may be a fan boy but I kicked a 22 year habit of cigs and never felt better

That's great to hear man! Thanks for your insight. It was on that forum in the health section I read about all the scares and problems people had which got me concerned.

Regarding PG I found an interesting video by the way:

Yeah, like a few of the previous posters, I'm avoiding the e-cig personally. They're too new, there are too many unknowns regarding long-term effects, there is essentially no regulation over them at all, and, most of them(both the devices and liquids)appear to be manufactured in China, which of course has an impeccable manufacturing safety record.

Nah, I'll stick with nasal snuff, and a can of Ettan here and there. Studied to death, tried and true.

No but I think RY4 has vanilla? and i think that is supposed to not be healthy to inhale. But its just tooo good not to vape once you find one you like. GJ4 from goodejuice is one of my favorites, its their take on Ry4 using their own extracted tobaccos. It only comes in 50/50 pg/vg. My other favorite is boba's bounty from avejuice 100%VG. The best i've ever had, unfortunately all it takes is a few puffs now and I can't breath

Some say they are dangerous and some say they are harmless. Some report breathing problems and stuff also whatever liquids they use (PG, VG, nic or no nic), and I read a guy who started to look really pale and tired (?) by PG juices.

What is your take on this?
To get back to the original question...no, there is no definitive answer. And there probably won't be until a decade from now when we either see or don't see long-time users going into hospitals with problems (specifically problems that don't look like what you see in someone who smoked for 20 years but gave up 10 years ago). Anyone who says they're dangerous is being really risk-averse (anything unknown is inherently dangerous), anyone who says not is making an educated guess based on what we know (all the ingredients are GRAS, the TSNAs are low, most self-reported outcomes are positive, people with COPD who switch report improved lung function, etc).

So...there's no real reason (apart from fear of the unknown) to assume they're not safe. But no one will be able to say for sure for some time. Monkeys are perfectly healthy after living in air saturated with PG for 18 months, so there's no reason to assume it'd be unhealthy. OTOH, maybe 10, 15, or 20 years will be a tipping point for overexposure to PG. Who can say?

What we can say with reasonable confidence is that smoking cigarettes is definitely very bad for you, and if you can quit, you should. And if you can't, then anything would be better than continuing, including e-cigs.

I also experienced breathing difficulties with e-cigs. It was my third go on them - first few times had no problems. I ended up with symptoms like emphysema after 2 months use - very, very scary. I don't trust them at all now. They're an unknown quantity and more stories about ill effects are coming to light every day. They definitely aren't for everyone. Snus is the way to go. I haven't inhaled anything for around 2 months now. :-)

Good luck - I hope you find something that works for you.

Very true. Just not enough evidence or time has gone by to see what the effects are. But developing serious breathing problems is enough for me to stay away from it. Good thing I found snus because I was ready to go back to cigarettes. I do still desire the whole "smoking" ritual of inhaling things other than air though but hopefully that will get better with time. One thing that scares me about eliquid is that it is not regulated at all. Which means any one can sell this stuff, and even though I tried to get liquid that the forums said were "trustworthy", but as far as I know people are doing this out of their homes with amateur equipment, and no real experience or safety regulations.

I actually checked on that and they actually do have a lot of regulations to follow; at least the more well-known companies. Since E-cigs are such a new thing, no one wants to be the first to kill or injure someone, so the quality controls are crazy.

Nicotine is no more harmful than say caffeine (tobacco to coffee). It's the carcinogens in the smoke that's most harmful to your health. And with smokeless tobacco products (excluding snus and StarCure treated products), it's the TSNAs (tobacco-specific nitrosamines) that are most harmful to your health.
