They quit useing the mica several upgrades ago. If you buy from a known distributor they will have the updated solos. If you go to amazon check to see who is shipping he item to make sure you will get new stock. The updated units have been out for about a year now but the suppliers got rid of the old ones cheap on amazon and ebay. Surely there are still some out there. I have purchased about a dozen for friends and am ready to order 2 more from puffitup. So far the solo seems to be the best personal vape. I hear good things about the Ionite but ya have to decide if you want to mess with fuel nor not. I love my solo.

All my friends quit "smoking" herb when introduced to the solo vape. Now they vaporize the herb instead of smoke it. None of them smoke cigarettes to begin with.

I suppose you can vape tobacco.

the descreet vape is a true personal vape. The chamber and battery life have to be very small. These 2 units aren't even in the same catagory.
I wouldn't invest in the discreet vape till the price comes down a bit. Its too new and the bugs have to be worked out and as time goes on the price will fall. I feel that its main attraction is that it looks like an inhaler and therefore it is certainly more descreet than the solo but the preformance surely can't match the solo by any means. Just my opinion.

I know studies of vaping nicotine are out there but i haven't yet read any on vaping tobacco... so i would research for any studies first before you do it just to be safe. For vaping the herb your friends do then check out the excellent F*ckCombustion forum (taking out the asterisk i just put in)

There is a vaporizer coming out next year that will indeed allow you to vaporize tobacco. It is a combo unit that will take either the vapor liquid, for e-cigs, and also comes with a chamber for vaping your tobacco, or herb, of choice. I saw it at a trade show I went to last month as a prototype. about the size of a Churchill cigar in diameter and length. Looked pretty cool actually. :-)
