    David Letterman Smoking Electronic Cigarette
With Katherine Heigl from Knocked Up

The all new electronic cigarette technology was just spotted on national television Tuesday night in the hands of celebrity Katherine Heigl, star of movies such as "knocked up" and many others. She decided to smoke it live on the David Letterman show, which amazed the audience and Dave himself. She then proceeded to pass the electronic cigarette over to Letterman who also smoked it, and seemed to have enjoyed it. Dave claimed that he had never heard of it, after his first drag he decided to take a few more.

"Your awfully good with that." said Heigl, in regards to Dave puffing on the ecigarette unit. “Most users cannot tell the difference.”

It all happened when they were discussing quitting smoking. Katherine Heigl said she tried and failed with just about every quit smoking product including chantix. With all of these quit smoking products, she claimed she just couldn't seem to kick the habit. That is until she stumbled upon the electronic cigarette which she claims to have used to quit smoking.

The electric cigarette is gaining more and more popularity everyday. Offered by a NY firm, electronic cigarettes Inc. located at electroniccigarettes.com. Their all new product mimics the act of smoking using a tar free and odorless technology that delivers nicotine. The unit is electronic, rechargeable, shaped and sized like a cigarette. It vaporizes liquid nicotine cartridges instead of burning tobacco and contains much less chemicals than a real cigarette. While doing this, the end of the unit lights up just like a real cigarette, the user puffs on the vapor, inhales and exhales just like the real thing.

"Most users cannot tell the difference." says a spokesperson from Electronic Cigarettes Inc. "We have seen great response with our product and were very excited to see the electronic cigarette in the hands of Katherine Heigl and David Letterman tonight."

Electronic Cigarettes Inc. also went on to tell us, "Ms.Heigl claims that it has helped her quit, and we just want to clarify that we do not market this product as a quit smoking device in anyway, there are rules against making such claims and we abide by them. At the same time, we cannot control what celebrities are saying about their personal experience with the product on national television."

I happened to catch this segment while channel-hopping last night.
Waited for any mention of snus or snuff but, since this was an unofficial
ad for e-cigs, that didn't happen. Heigl was really into it; kinda like a
teenager thumbing her nose at authority. Letterman played his part of
the laid-back 'wow' guy, claiming ignorance of such a new technology.
At least now the word is out nationally about e-cigs; next up, get
Letterman to 'wow' the fact that snus has been around for ~200
years and he had no clue!! Swedish Match --- grab the moment!!

Well, smoking has always had the cool factor. Sticking snus in your mouth doesn't really carry that, because it's not seen.

If snus gets any positive reception on major TV shows it's gonna be all downhill for cigarettes...

I'm really excited to hear every bit of news that B&M are seeing a demand for Swedish snus.

What I really want to see is Jay Leno light a doobie up when prop 19 passes. He films in Cali so I think that would be interesting. I don't even partake in such things, but I find it a silly thing to be illegal.

I've been very curious about getting an e-cig. But haven't seen one with a price that just makes me buy it. I have heard some local tobacco shops sell these fairly cheap disposable kinds, which I might be inclined to get, if I see it.

                    Sounded interesting to me, too.

Found this online: "Vapor King Charger Pack Kit"

                    The kit includes:
                    • 1 VK Charger Pack (Silver, Black or Gold)
                    • 1 Rechargeable Lithium Battery
                    • 1 High Intensity Atomizer
                    • 2 Tobacco Flavored Cartridges
                    • 1 USB Wall Charger/Converter
                    • 1 Power Line

The kit includes everything you need to get started.
                    $64.95

I thought they might be worth a try but after careful consideration I figured
(for me) they were too much of a bother. (Hell, I keep forgetting to refill my
nightstand vaporizer!!) Plus I have enough gadgets that need ever-constant
                    recharging.

I'll stick with my snus, thank you ...... just lip it and forget it!!

Yeah I started with e-cig last year. It was what first got me to stop smoking but after about 1000 bucks and 3 weeks worth of maintenance on them (changing atomizers, getting different types of e-liquids, charging and replacing bad batteries) I finally decided it wasn't worth the effort and was just about ready to go back to smoking when TropicalBob turned me on to snus.

The biggest problem as far as I was concerned was that almost all the parts of the e-cig were cheaply made and came directly from China. I would order 5 batteries and 3 of them were defective, I would get 20 atomizers and 5-8 of them didn't work, etc, etc. A couple companies here in the US started making super batteries and e-liquids which helped the quality. Atomizers only lasted a few weeks and would frequently plug up so you had to leave the house with 2 or 3 charged batteries, 2-3 good atomizers, a bottle of e-liquid. Just became way too much to deal with. And then the FDA started cracking down on shipments from China and stock ran dry or low. Customs would randomly confiscate shipments.

That was 16 months ago, I am sure things have changed now and quality and stock are much better so it may not be as bad.

Sounds like they should come with a warning label:

                        Or maybe something more specific:

I wouldn't bet on it if the stuff's coming from China. I have a hard time believing they run their country off the crap they make. They must import all their core infrastructure technology. If they didn't, nothing would get done.

                          Edit:
Btw, we can thank China for the stink bugs I have. They probably came in a shipment of cadmium tainted apples or something :^S
