Well in shops, yes(Apart from a few places, I dunno how that works) - but it is legal to import it.
And I have no clue, but I read it somewhere.

The news comes as no surprise. As long as I can still buy online, then no problem. The best we can hope for now is for the legalities of selling it online within the EU to be cleared up, so SM stop being pussies.

Hmm..."citizen respondents?" Is this referring to the general population??? Gotta love an official who obviously ignores the people and does only what he wants to...and then backs up his claim with an article from 2008!!??? Am I the only one who thought it was odd that such a dated piece of information was used to support this individuals' stance in favor of the ban?? I am tired so maybe I am missing something here...

Yes, the citizens don't matter in politics. Politicians (and their palm grease-sources) matter in politics!

The 2008 SCENIHR-study to which Dalli is referring, is actually quite accurate overall. It practically comes to the same results as the study by the Royal College of Physicians. But all the statistics and scientific statements about the harmlessness of snus are wrapped in commentary texts that show a heavy anti-tobacco undertone (nanny-state-fearmongering at it's best, obviously written by "scientists" who indirectly rely on cigarette taxes and somehow appear to need a maximum death-toll from smoking to justify their profession as "anti-tobacco workers"). Someone without any medical knowledge, like our valued EU-health commissar, will not read the statistics and scientific statements, not even the full text, but only the - in my view - yellow-press-like, totally unscientific conclusion of the study.

You can read the full, very comprehensive study here: http://ec.europa.eu/health/ph_risk/c...nihr_o_013.pdf

I could express the situation even more simply or sarcastic, namely that our health-commissar, who is an economist, surely knows how to calculate the cigarette tax revenues and how to protect them against a "dangerous" product like snus. This guy simply is not interested in our health. He would find arguments against snus even in a Swedish Match study.

                    Cheers!
