The war is far from over, but that's a prize scalp to have taken. Good for SM.

I always thought the EU take on snus was very very weird. Now we know why.

Let's move forward now.....if snus is dangerous tell us why, if it's relatively harmless get on with removing the trade ban pronto. This is a disgrace.

One rotten apple removed from the basket.... too many yet to go, but at least it's a start. I do wonder whether this was the reason why SM wanted so badly to play by the rules and stopped shops from shipping SM products to the EU. Or is it a coincidence that Northerner so very recently started selling SM products again? In any case, good riddance. Shame Dalli wasn't hit harder by this and didn't take down the whole commission with him like Cresson did back way back when.

The good news is that the hand has now been found in the cookie jar..................

this may mean that with so much attention and such a high profile departure........that whoever replaces him will go strictly by the book (we based our decision on the science and the opinion reports gathered earlier from across the EU).

This very good news may turn out to be VERY good indeed

And mind you a lifting or relaxing of restrictions across the EU will provide at least some momentum for the harm reduction movement here in the USA……
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

This is precisely my take on this - even to the point of relaxing the laws in the US.

This news simply couldn't have been better.

I've actually discussed with my Ma today how weird it was that the Ban was getting stronger instead of lifted. I guess we now know why.
THANK GOD(Shit, I might even start believing in him now) THAT THE BASTARD IS GONE!

Hopefully they will revise everything regarding Snus making it available, cheaper and acceptable! I can finally stop being a Snus-pusher!

It's difficult to put the pieces in order.
Dalli is certainly not the only reason why the EC wants to maintain the ban. The EC is theoretically supposed to do what the member states ask it to. Among them, most seem to have little interest in snus whatsoever, some, like France, want a total ban and at least Austria and Greece asked for a lifting.
Pfizer, Glaxokline and the "charities" they pay want a total ban, and they have leverage.
Who knows what is going on?

We've seen the tipp-exed report and the draft leak, and now Dalli's resignation over a bribe case. Maybe SM was responsible for the two previous events. In my view, SM has to play that thing very carefully, because it may be easy to have Dalli's head, but getting the ban lifted is another story, and that is what they want (and so do I).

So it will be intersting to see what happens now. Dalli's replacement is a Slovak guy for now, until they find another Maltese (does he have to be another friend of the same, er, entrepreneur, or wil any Maltese do?) Anyway, maybe SM still have some ammo in store, or maybe they just played their only card.

Wow. Don't look at snuson for a few hours and the earth shakes while you are away. I hope this adds so much pressure onto the other parties interested in continuing a ban that they feel they can't keep distorting the truth. I also hope unicorns exist.....but this is a good day.

If there's been funny business, legalising will be their get out because Dalli is now the fall guy.
