Swedish Match announce Nick and Johnny Oral Fireworks

Hot off the press from Sweden ... a new innovative snus will be released soon in the Nick & Johnny portfolio.

Described as combining the flavours of rich tobacco, wasabi and durian fruit combined with the exciting mouth sensation of popping candy - this is going to be a very exciting new snus.

The press release from Swedish Match also stated that this is only the start of experimentation with new mouth sensations and they are currently investigating a new portion material that self-combusts (in a safe way) on insertion in the mouth.

A bit more on the story taken from the website of Aftonbladet include these statements from head of marketing, Anders Loöimp:

"It is now the 21st century, snus is no longer the boring thing of a few men in beards. People do not want to put a piece of wet tobacco in their mouth unless it is replete with technology and innovation. We take an influence of cell-phones and how they develop in century 21..."

"People find the taste of tobacco disgusting, and this is why we have made Nick and Johnny Oral Fireworks. With this new taste there is only a very slight tobacco taste and when the popping candy starts a party in your mouth, you will not notice it at all..."

"It is a very exciting time for us here for the Nick and Johnny brand, this is only the start of things to come. We have many new innovative technologies including nematodes who can eat the snus portion within 20 minutes causing it to disappear leaving only water and carbon dioxide in the mouth. Also we have patented the procedure of pasteurised lithium which can allow the combustion of portion material in a very safe way ... And we have a very exciting technology which creates a portion material that adhesive itself to tongue taste buds similar to Velcro ... 2013 is the most exciting year for me"

The new flavours hinted at in addition to Oral Fireworks are:

Nick and Johnny Sticky Aristocrat with a taste of peacock jerky.
Nick and Johnny Invisible Walnut
Nick and Johnny Ouch! (Ørange)

Mr Loöimp suggested that if these trials were successful then Swedish Match would be aiming to re-formulate the classic Ettan recipe to include real chocolate, leather and damp soil along with pharmaceutical grade nicotine by the beginning of 2014.

There are no plans at the present time to bring back the original Nick and Johnny flavours.

Personally I really liked the original Nick & Johnny - it was a staple of my snussing for a long time.

I have no idea why Swedish Match want to make these ridiculous freaky novelty flavours ... I wish they wouldn't and just stuck to good solid snus.
