I'm shocked! I thought for certain, once they saw the facts they'd freely allow snus, and lower the taxes on it. That's what a government who had concern for its' citizens would do, right? Could it be they aren't motivated by public good?! I wonder what their motivations could be?

I think SM's response still gives hope, its not totally clear what they intend to do, you can guarantee SM will not give up the fight.

Brad Rodu has a reputation for doing good work. I'll bet it is accurate. His May 23 post concerning tax increases on e-cigs sounds ominous.

1/3 ignorance, 1/3 stupidity, 1/3 your choice of corruption by cigarette manufacturers, big pharma or other interest groups.

Absolutely! Cigarettes are big business, and cigarette companies don't want anyone cutting in on their profits.

In the UK there is a movement to pull out of the EU. I wonder if there is any similar campaign in Sweden?

I really don't place much stock in this report

Larsson can't be reached for comment..........SM knows nothing of it

Sounds to me like a feeler thrown out to see what the reaction would be if this were the case........

I'm not saying it won't happen....I'm just saying it does not look at all like it has happened

This looks like the work of a lobbyist (Cigarette and Pharm) ...............Get someone to throw a quote out there in order to gage public sentiment.
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Yes from what I know, Sweden are one of the most euro skeptic EU countries along with the UK, I read somewhere that snus could be a decisive point for people, I am sure one of the Swedish members could elaborate more though.
