Snus and USPS

Found this on another forum. From what I can tell it is now legal to ship smokeless tobacco via USPS with an adult signature. Not sure if it would be cheaper then UPS but it can't be more expensive.

I'm glad you posted this. The other day I ran across this link in the archives. It's a post by Chad that seems to indicate that is legal to send "Infrequent, lightweight shipments mailed between adult individuals" amounts of snus to each other as we sometimes do in trades.

That would be great if retailers started using it. USPS is easier to deal with, and I hate UPS.

I sent out two packages today, one was 2 lbs and one was 4 lbs (of snus) and the clerk even asked me what it was, and I told them tobacco.

I don't think they really care on the local level as long as it involves individuals.

Companies, that's a whole 'nother animal.

Yea the postal workers don't really care. Sometimes they look at the customs form and ask "Whats Snus". I tell them its Swedish throat logenses. Go over that 4 pound mark and the USPS bumps the price like $20 additional...and it keeps going up. 3 lbs 15.9 ounces is $20 cheaper than $4 pounds. 4 pounds works out to be 4 rolls of portions or 3 rolls of los.

I've honestly never had any problems with USPS. Other than the roughing up of my mail. I can't say that of UPS or FedEx. And it's cheaper too!

I have no qualms with USPS. In fact, I have our local mail clerk whom I knew through school, quitting smoking via snus.

I'm glad all of you have such great experience with usps. My local branch is a real pain in the ass. I'm constantly receiving things several MONTHS later post marked from up to 3 months previous, they held one of my packages PP sent me hostage for some reason saying i couldn't get it until the next week, i receive "final notice before send back" notes before i even receive the first 3 pickup requests. They fill out those forms slam them against my door and run when they could just knock on my door and give me my package.

I'm just kind of in a dilema now that my class schedule runs all day and I have to hit work straight after so I really can't order any without risking it being sent back.

I remember the days of being able to buy just ONE can of something because I wanted to try it out, and getting it shipped to me for like 7$ total (snus and shipping).

The new folks won't remember these days, but they were great!

The year I got laid off, and PACT was coming. I'd refresh the site several times per day looking for expired snus to come up. I was getting SM lössnus for $2 a tin, and free shipping when I ordered a bunch. I still have some of the snus I got then. I didn't have much money to burn, but at ~$50 a shot, I could make some meager cuts elsewhere to support it. Got through unemployment and PACT with flying colors. That site was a godsend for me.
