Im not a businessman, but figure they know from their own ordering system quantities shipped to US. Either way, money is always the deal and like PP said, stocking up isnt a bad idea.

I hope these companies realize how much of their profits come from the US and it is worth it to make it available for export…unless I’m overestimating American usage. I’m good for 8 rolls of los a year if I only buy what I use. Usage+stocking favorites+trying new stuff+portions…like 12 rolls a year and that is being conservative with bare minimums. This year so far I’m in for 12 rolls (if this next order comes in) and it’s only March…so I am being real conservative. Probably closer to 25 a year for me (26 if I can get some Julessnus Los🫠).Originally posted by Link View Post
Mine is sitting in Germany atm. What is the deal usually when you see this type stuff go down? Basically a game of extortion between the Govt. and these companies or what? Think Skruf will be greenlighted eventually or is this the begnning of the end for them being shipped into the US?
We are not super active here, and when I was on Reddit I was part of the snus subreddit. Just kinda watched it from afar, but they’re pretty active (but it’s not Snuson. This place is the bees knees) but, for illustrative purposes, the Snus subreddit has just over 30,000 members. It is heavily American, and let’s say half of those members are American and buy the equivalent of 1 roll a month, that’s 1,800,000 tins of Snus a year exported for personal to the US. Does that offset the cost of doing business in the US? Is the potential profit worth filing with the FDA? What is the upper limit these companies can charge to the American consumer?
Business need data and if they “got on the red list” to get a report of the volume of Skruf and Röda Lacket coming into the US courtesy of the FDA, maybe they are doing a cost analysis for a potential filing with the FDA to label some of their products ::coughskrufstarkcough:: for export. That’s my hope.
At the end of the day it will come down to money. That is where all of the snus decisions I personally have not agreed with have been made…on the balance sheet.Last edited by Monkey; 03-03-24, 01:31 AM. Reason: Every time I think I did good I reread my post and find errors.

I’m not worried, this is just an update to all the Skruf being taken off of some websites, and information.
I have an order with Röda on it and I am pretty sure it will be delivered no worries, it’s a Swedish Match product. FDA mislabeled it on the red list. It has been in Kentucky for a few days, usually my stuff goes through Philly, but still not worried.
Also, that link will update every time there is a red list addition or change, so we can keep abreast of what the FDA might be kicking back/when Skruf comes off the red list.
No stress. Not trying to get everything riled up like when that passed PACT…everyone was a little nuts about that back then. Cool and calm…

I think it is really strange…but the tobacco companies might be doing this intentionally to see what the market for American snus exports are. They can have the FDA collect all of the sales data and then decide if it’s worth it to register and relabel for American sales. It gets cleared with labeling changes, Northerner starts selling it and boom big money from the “oh crap we can get it again” sales stocking up rolls on rolls. The companies know we stock deep, and a short artificial scarcity will allow them to jack prices for the American market once it makes its glorious return.Originally posted by Premium Parrots View PostWho would ever think skruf would be banned from the US?
See, I’m a bad capitalist because I can think like this, but would do the right thing because I believe in people over profits…and why I am not rich.
I do hope the PMI owning many snus brands and having a small foothold here with General might make American packaging for export only what they own that is registered here (General, Ettan, Jakkobsons, Thunder) with the FDA…its only providing updates to the extant files with the FDA and specifically labeling/creating overlay labels for the snus for the American market.
Or they go all in with Zyn…follow the money I guess.

It might be time to stock up on your go to snus. Swear to God....I have bout 15 year old snus vacumn sealed and in the freezer that is just like new. I even have a couple of rolls left of the offroad coffee/vanilla, I treat myself to one portion a day. I probably have bout 40 rolls of snus in the freezer right now. lol just be sure your go to snus stays your go to snus. Of those 40 rolls I think bout 16 are ving 99 coffee snus, which I like but not as much as the Helwit mocha. It won't hurt to stock up if you have room in the freezer.
Who would ever think skruf would be banned from the US?

FDA Import Alerts
https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/cms_ia/country_SE.html
Check it out, you can click on the tobacco import alerts and see that Skruf is on the red list for marketing and labeling. One of the Skruf products is “Roda Lacket” so not sure what that means for Röda Lacket orders and snus orders in general. Both MakeWebo and Skruf AB are on the red list right now.
Not sure what this means for the future of ordering personal use tobacco products from overseas…Tags: None
