    Swedish Match Slowly Expanding Distribution

    http://www.tradingmarkets.com/news/s...a-1059212.html

    ...
In connection with the presentation of Swedish Match first-quarter results, it was announced that sales of Swedish wet snuff in the USA (General) took place at more than 700 sales points. According to the CEO, the number has now risen to some 900. The company has previously spoken of some 1,200 sales points at the end of 2010.
Swedish Match will increase the number of sales points in the second half of 2010, Dahlgren said, adding the company targets a little bit more than 1,200 sales points.

No, it is each store or other outlet that sells their product. E.g., if a business called Best Cigars had 10 storefronts and 7 of them sold SM product, it would be 7 sales points for SM.

Simply put, places where people can buy their product.

Hopefully Swedish Match will eventually get other brands in those sales points along with General.

+2.. Can't even remember the last time I've done General brand. Guess I should revisit me some GESP ASAP.

What are they waiting for? Give the samplers to stores and let any store that wants to have a fridge. Send a representative to gas stations that have a camel fridge and ask them to sell it. If they want the general brand to remain exclusive sell stuff like ettan, roda lacket, catch etc.

That has confused me as well - they have their redman / redseal etc in all of those stores already - they just need a smaller fridge that fits behind the counter like the camel one - if there is one lesson to learn from camel, its that the 3x2x3 fridge won't work at a 7-11 behind the counter

Is there some way to find where the Swedish variety is actually available, at least that is what I am getting from this, that they are indeed available in the USA, right? So, is there some way to find out what brands are available, and prefererably, where?

You mean their snus, or their owned American dip?
The General website used to have a store locater, I think it still does.
                        SM doesn't make Red Seal.

I still think they need to find a way to not need a fridge. Dip doesn't need a fridge, and Triumph snus didn't.
Maybe this fridge thing is not really "true".

So far, General brand is the only Swedish variety available at U.S. stores. As tom says, the General website has a store locator: http://www.generalsnus.com/Account/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2f. In my experience, the store locator seems to be very accurate (as far as telling you what stores carry General, not so accurate at putting the stores in order from closest to farthest away).

P.S. I think one of the best things we American fans of Swedish snus can be doing right now is buying General at local stores that carry it and letting people at the stores know there is a market for it. The only way to expand the availability and selection of Swedish snus at U.S. stores in the long run is to convince retailers that it is a product that will sell and be a profitable use of their limited store space.

                              .

The store locator is a hassle now after PACT.
You have to fill out your whole name and
address to verify your age first.
