My apology to you. I reserve the term for a corrupt cop. We have many
fine people in law enforcement. Now if we could end The War on Drugs
they could do real police work.

Some of my friends are rednecks. These elections get me too worked up.

It's pretty obvious he thought he could talk himself out of being arrested so he wouldn't comply and put his arms behind his back, that's what happens when you fight back.

The problem with having an event on private property is you can be asked to leave. So it was the owners right to ask him to leave. When he didn't police showed up.

The police can't decide on their own to let you go, they were doing their job.

Rick Waugh is running a very aggressive campaign trying to get Eric Cantor to debate him and has even hired a guy dressed in a chicken suit to attend Eric Cantor events.

If you look at the polls Eric Cantor stands at 67% vs. Rick Waugh's 30.4%

It's pretty obvious that Eric Cantor feels no need to debate and showing up at his meetings on private property and trying to harass him into debating is going to get you thrown out.

Yea right. The guy was thrown out for being one of Cantor's constituents
          who pay his salary.

Being a constituent doesn't give you the right to to harass people on private propoerty. How the f*ck do you have a meeting when people won't shut up. Rmember the Democrats were whining about it when they had the healthcare debates?

So you don't like it when it's Republicans disrupting events but it's OK for Dems to do it? You got a little bit of double standard going on there Joe.

I am right there with you on these elections. As I mentioned, I am a conservative but have had enough of all the commercials from both sides. Just once, I would love to hear one candidate talk about themselves and what they are going to do if elected and not sling mud.

                      West Tawakoni Returns

                      Larry Briscoe, Editor
                      Email thisPrint this

The West Tawakoni City Council could still not firm up next year’s budget Tuesday night at another meeting that was emotional and at times contentious. Before it was over, City Administrator Cloy Richards was directed to prepare another budget proposal to consider at a workshop and special meeting next week.
The legal clock is ticking since the city is required by state law to have a budget approved and a tax rate set before the end of September. Another public hearing and two votes must be taken by that deadline.
The sticking point continued to be the number of police officers to retain after this month.
The council took a straw vote at the last meeting that ended with a 2-2 tie on reducing the police crew to three from the current five. Mayor Pete Yoho tipped that vote to a three-man force in order to balance the budget.
Police Chief Jack Schultz submitted a proposal this week to keep a fourth officer for a 32-hour week. He proposed that overtime for the department be cut by $4,000 and put all officers on salary. He stated comp time could be worked out in-house. Also, the four officers would take one week unpaid furlough. He said that would save $2,260.
Schultz also stated the city could retain the proposed raises for himself and apply it to the fourth officer, and he said the other officers were willing to forego raises and apply the difference to the fourth officer. He said the department was also researching the possibility of charging insurance companies for local officers working accidents with a possible income of $4,000 to $5,000.
“The fourth man would also be able to cover vacation times, sick and school absences as well as a portion of the open shifts,” he said. “The city is looking at a substantial gain from the layoff of one officer and the income from the grant. With the proposal above, and the city providing the rest, a 32-hour officer would not be an undue burden on the budget.”
Councilman Ed Watson said he wanted to see what impact Schultz’ proposal would have on a budget with four officers..... /snip
Decide for yourself whether it was his TEA party affiliation or a budget cut.

***UPDATE: Duane Hammond says union officials called him this afternoon to apologize for the incident. He say they are "bending over backwards" to make it up to him.

Man you guys research and debate the bloody hell out of these little election-related incidents. Usually makes for a good read though so keep it up.

Oh sweet Jesus, the guy was arrested because he was trespassing. Yes he was invited, probably someone did some poor planning there. However the PRIVATE BUSINESS OWNER asked them to leave and they REFUSED, at that point they were TRESPASSING. And no matter the reasons you want to ascribe to it I am sure the coffee shop had a sign that they have the right to refuse any customer for any reason.

Out of curiosity, what constitutes real police work? I ask because I hear it worded that way so much.
