    Russ Feingold

This is the one loss that actually upsets me. Feingold was a great senator, an independent, and truly a man of the people. Just a few points about Russ Feingold:

Voted against his party 887 times

Stood alone against his party 97 times — the most of any serving senator

    Voted against NAFTA

    Voted against the bank bailout

The ONLY senator to vote against the Patriot Act

    Legacy of campaign finance reform

Believed strongly in REAL fiscal responsibility, not the Bush kind

    Champion of Net Neutrality

Now we have some douchebag who married into his daddy-in-law's company, and claims that he knows how to create jobs. This despite the fact that several of his workers qualify for state assisted medical insurance.

    Damn...

The Patriot Act was one of the worst things to ever happen to Americans and I commend him on that.

Looking at his voting record though I do have serious problems with his voting record on illegal aliens. I am glad he is gone, although he did have a pretty decent voting record on a lot of other topics.

    * Voted YES on continuing federal funds for declared "sanctuary cities". (Mar 2008)
    * Voted YES on comprehensive immigration reform. (Jun 2007)
    * Voted NO on declaring English as the official language of the US government. (Jun 2007)
    * Voted YES on eliminating the "Y" nonimmigrant guestworker program. (May 2007)
    * Voted NO on building a fence along the Mexican border. (Sep 2006)
    * Voted YES on establishing a Guest Worker program. (May 2006)
    * Voted YES on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security. (May 2006)
    * Voted YES on giving Guest Workers a path to citizenship. (May 2006)
    * Voted NO on allowing more foreign workers into the US for farm work. (Jul 1998)
    * Voted NO on visas for skilled workers. (May 1998)
    * Voted NO on limit welfare for immigrants. (Jun 1997)
    * Rated 0% by USBC, indicating an open-border stance. (Dec 2006)

It is sad. He was probably the only Senator who wasn't a scumbag/liar/thief.

Yah i've heard lots of good things about him, though I don't know his whole story. Apparently lots of people are pissed. But voting against the atriot act, and not always following party lines makes him better than any other congressman I can think of.

Hey, good news everybody! Now that he didn't get elected, he is available for Obama's Cabinet. Surely Obama would love to have such a freedom loving indivi....oh., nevermind, Obama endorses the patriot act and always goes with the part line.

Didn't he pass campaign finance reform McCain-Fenigold. Not that the act ended up doing anything but making things worse since it made it easier for incumbents to win but at least you've got the right intentions, that's what I learned in Government anyway.

He is somewhat of a casualty but I just cannot support somebody who would not do anything about underground tunnels from Tijuana to America and giving illegals unlimited amounts of entitlements.
