Missile launch off the coast of California??

    http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=fcc_1289329613
Love the way the guy says it was probably launched from a "submarine, an underwater submarine" ROFPMSL.

Looks to me like this is in fact a missile and not a plane as some people have said.

    So what's the score? Tom?

That thing looked too big to be a back yard missile.

Ive been following this event from last night since i used to live right there. Ive boated to catalina island in the area where this was launched.

Some things to know: they have a mil base over in that area that does rocket tests, but they are denying this. Furthermore, it was, according to reports, launched from the water.

My assesment: it was some sort of covert test, but since a news chopper captured footage of it they are being forced to address it, and as always they are saying that it wasn't from us, but that it certainly doesnt pose a national security risk ( the ****ing icbm just launched next to los angeles, totally not a security threat...)

One thing we know, it did not appear to detonate anywhere, so one must assume it went into the water. People dont waste money shooting large rockets into water, therefore was likely a navy exercise of some kind. They are the only ones with money to blow like that.

And what direction was it going? Someone should be able to figure that out by observing the video and taking additional info from the pilot of the helicopter. This plays a big part, but it seems obviouse it was going away from shore.

Some are saying maybe not a rocket at all, maybe just a contrail. Commercial aircraft dont climb that steep or that fast, but military craft do, so could have been that. It looks like a missle to me, and to the news guy who observed and taped it, but i dont know, the gov seems to think it was a missile too but dont appear to be all that worried, so probably theirs.

I only have limited experience with rocket propelled projectiles, and that mainly come from cross training with air defense artillery people with things like the patriot missiles, but to me that seems like a pretty sizeable contrail. Outbackjack used to be in ADA, maybe he would have a better observation on this whole thing?

Either way, they will probably just say it was a plane and a big misunderstanding.

It was the Nazi's, testing rockets from inside the Earth where they remain since WW2.

Maybe they were trying to get to their moon base and came up short not taking into account the viscosity of the ocean.

What's worrying me is that officials are trying to pass this off as a jet - which stinks.
This is clearly not a plane.

Looking at these images, it is quite clear that this was a rocket, i mean im not sure what angle everyone else was seeing it from but it seems fairly certain it was a rather large missile of some type.

But could this be something other than a us naval exercise or something? Nazi's aside, i cant think of one other logical conclusion. I mean if it were an enemy of the state it would have been fired on our cities, and no one spends money like that to shoot in the water other than governments doing tests.

Can anyone think of any other possibility for how this occured? I mean it has to be the navy or something, there is no way to possibly get a rocket that size here if your another country, and any private firm doing it needs to get a license. What if it was a private rocket but they launched it on accident? I dont think rockets have a hair trigger but i am just confused as to how this could have happened without the government knowing.

This reminds me of the norway spiral, where the germans promised it wasnt them shooting shit from submarines but then since it got so much attention they were forced to admit to it. But in that scenario there was speculation early on, and i dont see anyone coming forward about any speculation here.

It's hard to fool people these days as most games of bluff have been played out over history already.

It could have been an accident - I realise that there's a big procedure to go through before launching a missile but they might have gone through the whole procedure and somebody f***ed up, therefore leading to embarrassment and a cover up.

It is also clear that the missile was terminated or else it would have travelled a hell of a lot further.

I like how the newscaster said it defiantly originated from something in the ocean.. I have a theory

Maybe it was a sperm whale shooting it's load

Some sailor was eating pizza reading Entertainment Weekly on watch and dropped some topping on the button and it pressed while he was wiping it off, gotta be what happened.

Maybe it was just Lazer having an underwater wank.

I wondered where he'd got to.
