When I was a kid, there was legend of them around the coal mines north of Birmingham. The area is mountainous and very rugged. They called it or them "The Coalburg Monster". Lots of people, especially older men, claimed to have seen it. I have no personal experience of it.

Bigfoot may just be a species of ape that has yet to be catagorized, or it may be just people misidentifying regular animals. Ive never seen any proof but its widespread enough that there may be something to it. One of the sgts in my platoon says he saw one when he was fishing one day and said it scared the shit out of him because it was like a naked 6 foot tall hairy guy, that walked kinda funny. I dont know if he was bs'ing me though.

I wonder how come no one can ever take any pictures of it? And how are they so elusive? Either they intelligently hide from man of purpose, or just have a lifestyle of living in seclusion and only coming out to hunt every so often. If it was intelligent than i imagine it would not spend all of it's time in hiding.

I agree. After all these years we have only seen a few grainy short videos of "something" walking but not long enough or clear enough to really see what it is.

I have been watching that show "Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files" on SyFy. While they do their due diligence to try and recreate the videos they get, just because you can recreate a video doesn't mean it isn't real, and I think they lose that fact.

Condor I didn't know you had a Pac NW connection, that makes you rip even harder. In case you newcomers haven't put it together, this here Condor fella is the shit. As for 'Squatch, call it Northwest blasphemy if you will, but my desire to believe far outweighs my conviction -- because there is none I'm sad to say. With all the campers, loggers, hikers, and outdoorsmen and women out here, we would have at least found bones or remains by now. And how such a presumably tiny and elusive population of any creature could survive and mate with enough genetic diversity to sustain the species is by my account impossible. Also, if you look at a map of bigfoot sightings, they cover the entire US, even Navada and Arizona and shit. Boo on me, but I call it a Native American legend that has become the crop circle of the Pacific Northwest, meaning there will always be enthusiasts who go to great lengths to perpetuate a hoax. Dammit though, I wish I were a believer. I also wish I believed in ghosts. I'm cool with Nazi Moon Bases though.

well then.........maybe you two should get a room ..............and explore black holes.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Sounds like a great idea, have to wait until tomorrow though, heading out to see Skyline at noon (looks like a good movie)

I hope its real. I just like to remind myself that gorillas are kinda the same deal... There were stories an ledgends of them but they werent 'discovered' til the early 1900's. Yeah, dude i was in the pacific nw for a while. I still remember the stories about the "wheedle on the needle"
Its about the blinking red light on top of the space needle and how its a (rudolph-like) bigfoot's nose. Kid's book...
I also remember, on a clear day, always staring at mt. Ranier out the window of my classroom

I love clear days, look south to see Mt. Rainier and north to see Mt. Baker (you just ignore the fact that they are both active volcanos and we live near a huge subduction zone and it's a beautiful place)

I bet bigfoot is just some yet uncatogorized species that is extra good at evading us.

Edit: Or PP's second personality that he only takes out on weekends and warm summer days.

I think Bigfoot, Yeti, etc., could be real. Anything is possible. But apart from some film, that is debateable, and some footprints, I think no one really knows for sure(apart from those that claim to have seen it).
