That sucks Tom although it sounds like you're better off out of it from what you said and hopefully something better for you will come along soon.

I think you're right they should have warned you to cut down on your internet use before just firing you.

I lost my job of about 6 years a month or so ago so I'm not best happy right now either but scan the jobsites daily for something new, hopefully something will turn up.

bill, yep, thats what I mean. I think I was unethically treated. I was not a problem employee in anyway, been there over 3 years. If they sat behind some secret desk monitoring my net usage, the moment they saw a concern, they should have said something to me, and I would have never used the net again. But they didn't. That's why I think it was conspired, why else would they have acted in such an unethical manner that trumps any critique of my net browsing? We have had cops fired for sending porn pics in their email from their work computers, now if I did that, I'd expect to be fired, but I never did that.

There is still work out there, but it's just harder to find. Stick in there bro!

Also lol@ the fact it was for excessive internet usage. I'll just leave this right here:

Edit: Oh shit, it's the snuson top-poster curse! The top two are unemployed, the third went crazy, and i'm 4th! Oh shit!
LMAO! That should give Snusgetter pause :^D

I'm sorry to hear you got fired Tom, but it may be for the best. You got the kick in the ass you needed to get a job you like better, and you can collect unemployment while you find it. Better than quitting and being out of money.

It's a sad fact of life that if an employer wants to get rid of you, they'll come up with some dipshit but plausible-sounding reason to do so. It sounds as if that's exactly what happened to you, Tom. It probably didn't even have anything to do with you -- likely the new boss wanted her nephew to have your job, or something like that. Nepotism and corruption have been part of our local government for as long as local government has existed.

Best wishes to you, and I hope you find something less stressful and more rewarding soon. There are a few local companies starting to hire again, so maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones.

Tom, you could appeal on the grounds of unfair dismissal ??. But then would you want to work for these people again anyway.
Sounds to me you,d be better off rid of them.

I will appeal, but I don't want to go back, but I would like it changed to voluntarily resigned.

The way that works though, is you have to buy a lawyer at $170+ per hour, and they get "free" defense since they already have a lawyer on staff. Fighting any of that kind thing is just a fight into bankruptcy, but like you said, it's probably for the best.

                          Sorry to hear that Tom.
Don't you have a procedure for getting fired like a tribunal etc.? I work for government and it takes a hell of a lot to get fired. I think the only way I'd be out the door is if I was looking at porn or I hit somebody.

I got fired from a job I hated on grounds of bullshit.

Three months of unemployment later I got the job I am currently at which is leaps and bounds better than what I was working.

Take the unemployment and find the.job.you always wished you had. Life has it's way of fixing what it ****ed up.

                            Good.luck.and Vril speed.

(Damn alcohol has me putting in periods rather than spaces. Terribly sorry.)

Tom, I think the best way to handle the outfit you work for is also the simplest. Just load em up, walk in there and start blowing people away. That should get their attention. And if by chance you get caught then you won't have to worry about room and board for the rest of your life.

                              that'll work
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Tom, Sorry to here about your job, Although the way they did it sucks and ain't right your going to be better off. Take the unemployment and time and look for something you will like and enjoy. I know all about hating your job and dreading going in every day, I've been there with the worst job ever and even had the The depression along with dry heaves every morning waking up, So not worth that.. No job is ever worth that. Just be carefull of the depression that can follow being unemployed, don't let it get to ya and just know that your better off... **** em ...Take this time for yourself and don't worry about it .. It will all work out
