Go work for Swedish Match in Owensboro. You might even get a discount on dip.
You mean Snus, Swedish match dooesn't make dip ;-)

Do they have any vacant jobs, I'd love to work for them :-)

Swedish Match manufactures a lot more dip in Owensboro than they do snus. Red Man, Timberwolf & Longhorn are all Swedish Match products.

Sorry about the news Tom, hopefully something will turn up soon.

Swedish Match makes dip. But who cares.. Tom, I'm really sorry to hear about the abruptness and bullshit nature of your termination. When you're stuck in a thankless, mindless job all day it's very difficult to find time to look for something else. I hope you are granted unemployment, and you'll have your days free to push resumes and go talk to people. Craigslist is good, but I also recommend finding companies in your area that you would like to work for and try to set up a meeting with someone to whom you can explain why they should want you on board. Best of luck Tom. Enjoy the day off today!

Sorry man. One thing I have found about gov't jobs is sometimes it's all about politics and who has more pull or ties. Too bad you wasn't in a union, but then again you were miserable there anyway. Good luck to ya!

Thanks. I tend to think my new superviser just didn't like me, because I was not gung-ho about the department subject matter. To me it was just a job, which I did do, and always got good anual reviews. I never made a secret of my net browsing, which sometimes did encounter blocked sites, and adult images, especially if I was looking something up on an image search. But I think that is irrelavant, and there is more to it. It doesn't make sense to me, that they would secretly compile my almost 4 years of net usage(I wonder if they are secretly recording our phone calls too?), and then drop this on me, a non-trouble employee, without ever giving me any warning at all. I can only think this was a conspiracy by my new superviser to have me gone. This woman is a fanatic, she even wanted all of us to join external groups and activities away from work that dealt with the subject matter of our dept, which I of course had no interest to do so. While, I am disgusted at the way I was underhandedly treated, I also think this is a good thing, for it exposed them for what they are, and it set me free from it. I only wish I sabatoged and messed up everything before I left.

I can tell you here we are mandated to keep records now for I think 7 or 10 years as a matter of public record. Any place you work ALL internet traffic, internal or external, is going to be monitored and recorded. So I don't think this is a case of a proactive 4 years of spying on you.

Really sorry to hear the bad news Tom, I was in the same situation the year before last and it wasn't fun. Persevere and push forward and hopefully you'll find something you like more.

Good luck, my dad was laid off but just ended up retiring early. Wish we all had that option!

There's your problem right there lol. Turn on safesearch in google which helps. If they don't have firewalls to block restricted content, than you can hardly be held accountable for what content you stumble across on the internet.

Well, it's over with now. We had zero reason to even have the internet, yet every desk had it.

Sorry to hear about that Tom.. You'll find something better you'll see.. Only thing that really baffles me
that there was no warning, most workplaces would just tell ya to knock
it off and that would be the end of it.

That's why I believe it was a conspiracy by the new boss to get rid of me. Nothing else makes sense.

Well if they fired you for internet usage they probably looked at what you wrote and figured you're a nutball and cut you loose maybe.
