It might be a good idea to have a fenced in area in the back yard area, from the back door.

I am sorry for your loss. As others have said, losing a good pet is almost as bad as losing a child.

Owens, So sorry to hear about this tragedy and your loss

I now have 2 dogs out of the 3 I had and they are my kids.. I lost my American Eskimo last oct. By somone speeding down the road in front of my house and never even stopped, They must have been going 50-55 on a 30 mph rd. we heard this big bang like somone hit a telephone poll and a loud scream, I ran out expecting somone to be wrapped around the pole out front, Instead I saw my dog barley limping screaming in pain and made it to the side of the road and collapsed and died 10 min later in my arms from what i can only assume was massive internal damage. The worst feeling in the world.

I feel your pain and anger... I'm still pissed that the person didn't even stop or care... My heart is still broken...I feel for your wife... Your neighbor needs to make this right by at min. paying the vet cost... Sucks that people can be this way...

My condolences Owens. It's tough losing an animal, even when it's expected, much through the gross negligence of another person. A civil suit doesn't sound bad, but it'll cost money, and I'm not a big fan of the court system. You're in CA? You can find rattlesnakes out there, right?....

The speed bump idea sounds good.

Wow that sucks bro. At an absolute minimum she needs to pay those vet bills,a nd since you did pretty much the minimum and didn't get the surgery, the court should easily rule in your favor i'd imagine. The cops will catch her smoking in her car eventually. It's hard to prove it though unless THEY see her doing it, since there's no way to test for concentration.

Also, lots of places to dig a hole in 10 acres if you catch my drift. lol. What a **** dude, at least it wasn't your favorite dog.

                      Here's the thing though...

You can speed bump your own driveway to your heart's content.

But the 'common' driveway would need the consent of all parties involved
(the 3 property owners who share that part of the driveway). Do you think
Kruella the Bitch would give her okay? I doubt it; she seems so self-centered
that she doesn't think there are any repercussions to her actions. The courts,
though, could make her go along with it ... or they might just tell you to fence
                      in your property.

In this case, a little Godfather-like action does seem warranted!!
Then again, who knows what she might do to the snake!

                        :^O

I would NEVER suggest such a thing. I just thought a rattlesnake would be a nice replacement for a dog. They're very docile and loving(sometimes), and don't jump on you when you get home from work. You just have to be a little careful. If it got out of the house, there's no telling where it could go. They fit in very small spaces. It might even go in a car looking for engine warmth. You wouldn't want that....

                                LoL :-)

A friend of mine has 2 boxers, they get along with any other breed, they're not aggressive at all.
