Hopefully it wasn't your fault, but if it was watch for a letter in the mail stating that your getting sued.

In 2007 I had a car accident a little fender bender, I ended up rear ending a truck (chevy 2500HD) with my small Ford escort ZX2 going no more than 5-10 mph. I was issued a citation, went to court and all that good stuff. I did about $2,500 worth of damage to my car and maybe pushed his back bumper up a coule inches if that. Then in 2009 I believe I received a certified letter in the mail on my birthday from the guy's lawyer saying he is sueing me for $10,000 for anxiety and loss of enjoyment of life. Insurance was going to fight in since they suspected it of being a false claim, but the figured it would cost them more so they settled out of court. Tell methat isn't some shit!

But the improtant part is you and your family is ok, hopefully you wont feel any after affects to the wreck.

Quick question for you guys..

Ok I was going about 5 mph Probably less turning into the shopping complex.. The speed limit along that stretch of Rd is 35 mph. She was driving a small type pick up, I was driving a compact 4 door. We were hit with so much force in the front the caving in went a few feet pass the radiator didn't see though if it hit the engine block, and of course the airbags deployed. Is it safe to say the other driver was speeding? I saw that truck in a blur. I would figure at 35 it would be a fender bender. I didn't hear any squeeling of breaks on the other drivers part. No horn blowing.

You gotta think that since this was a head on crash that the speeds were double for example: if you were going 30mph and the lady you hit was going 35mph thats a combined speed of 65mph, that is definitely not a fender bender.

When I was taking driving school the instructor told me this information, it makes since to me.

Yup happened a few hours ago.. Was turning into a shopping complex and was hit head on. Air bags are good inventions. Bumps and bruises on my wife and I
but were ok. I have chest pains. It was just a blur trying to remember what happened. My main concern was my wife she was crying I was really scared. Thank god my two year old wasn't in The car he was with grandma.

On a good note my cans of Roda Lacket, general, and
tube of T&T Hdt were unscaved. I actually smoked a cigarrette right after ruining my streak. A guy was helping us and I got a red. I still like snus
and snuff alot better. I have a portion in right now
and not taking it out for my MRI catscan whatever. Sorry about posting personal stuff again but I consider alot of you like family.

I thought I would give a quick update. Both I and the other driver have the same insurance. They ended up siding with her but we believe it's do to the police report being incorrect. It said I was traveling north on rd 1 when I was actually coming from rd 2 traveling east which has a protected turn. We told the insurance company the police report was incorrect and the officer agreed to amend it. The guy said "it's too late we made our decision" well once we mentioned we are getting my wife's family lawyer involved they quickly hung up. Right now I can't afford a rental car or taxi to work 40 bucks round trip. So guess what my ass is taking the city bus. I haven't taken the bus since I was a teenager I'm not looking forward to Monday morning at all. The legal battle will probably take a while
so I can't afford a new vehicle till my tax refund next month. I have asked family, friends etc for a loan to no avail. I've never had to borrow money before granted so it was so hard of me to ask I felt 1 inch tall. Everyone knows I'm good for it granted it's just the holidays etc etc they can't help. I just hate the fact that I have to take a damn bus. When I get off work it doesn't run so I have to still take a taxi. Life could be alot better now but
one thing that's good is that my family is safe. Sadly though some of our friends, family
will have to wait for their presents till late January.

Definitely sux! Which insurance is it (so I know never to get them)? All of them "seem" great until you have a claim so it's hard to know which to use.

As far as ins companies go, they all pretty much are a bunch of lying thieves, but I have had Permanent("The") General for over ten years now, and have never had a problem. There was one instance where a man on a bicycle came flying alongside me, downhill, as I was doing like 15MPH through downtown, ran his handlebars down my door, and hit my mirror, throwing himself to the ground pretty hard and breaking his shoulder on the mirror. He tried to say I started turning without a blinker and turned right in front of him. He also tried to sue me.

My insurance company went all out to fight it. They proved that I had been on my way to work, and that there would be no reason for me to turn off where the guy claimed. They located witnesses that said they saw him run into my truck. They also found out that the guy did not go to the hospital for four days, and basically got to tell the guy to piss off, as "there is no telling what sort of unrelated injuries" the man could have suffered during those four days. He could have been in another accident during that time, and there was no way for him to prove the his injuries came from the incident involving me. Also, he ended up paying for my door and mirror to be fixed, under the threat of a countersuit for slander, false reports, and insurance fraud.

I've had Geico for over fourteen years without any problems. Fast, reliable, fair, insurance adjusters; and a check in my hand in less than 2 weeks after 2 deer accidents and they even covered my rental car when needed. The last time I had to call the adjusters 3 years ago a woman in a Oldsmobile Silhouette minivan in front of me at a red light started through the light and spike the brakes and I bumped her with my 2004 Oldsmobile Alero thankfully a car across from me at the light had 2 eyewitnesses who waited for the police and reported exactly what they saw happen. The woman tried to claim a neck injury and made the fire department take her to the hospital even though her 8 year old daughter and girlfriend passenger weren't hurt and the airbags in neither vehicle went off. Also there wasn't even any scratches on either bumper her minivan was white and my alero is dark blue. Geico was going to pay her $250 for having her bumper repainted without raising my insurance rates until I told them to send the adjuster to look at my car and measure the heights of both bumpers. The adjuster measured both bumpers and photographed both vehicles and Geico sided with me that the woman was trying to set me up for an insurance claim. Geico went after the woman for insurance fraud! I don't know how that turned out but I do know neither myself or Geico payed her one damn cent!

I'm sorry to hear of your travails Eric. Could you afford a scooter? Roo's pretty hip on the Ruckus, and that might be an affordable option for you. I use progressive insurance. I've never made a claim, but they get good reviews, and the rates are pretty good.

Get a Ruckus! Honda Ruclus. $2300 out the door. I'm broke too, so I'm financing it with $800 down and $100 monthly payments. It's fun to drive, and way better than a car. You can break all the rules -- the advantages of a motor vehicle and a bicycle all packed into one rad machine. There is no downside other than dealing with Bigblue1"s shit on this forum. But screw him and his '92 Nissan Sentra.

Update!

My wife and I talked to some lawyers and they said without witnesses not much they can do. But they are still having my wife sue our insurance company for medical if that makes any sense. Lawyers don't get paid if we don't win so there mist be some merritt to the case. I got my tax refund yesterday so were going car shopping today. My wife isn't too crazy about the two wheel route considering her cousins husband died last year in a motorcycle accident. Sorry I didn't reply back on that never saw those posts. I can't wait to have a car again the bus sucked! Plus I can get that white elephant sample out to Nomad as I promised. Believe it or not I'm a bit shaky to drive again. The accident keeps playin over in my head. I'm sure though after a couple days I'll be alright.

The best way to overcome the fear of driving is to just get in, put your seatbelt on securely, put the transmission in drive and floor it. Drive as fast as you can where ever you go from now on. And don't ever stop if the police are trying to pull you over.
