Anybody ever try a raw food or alkaline diet?

I keep hearing about the impressive results that can be gained through a raw food diet but I am a bit afraid to make the leap. Anybody here ever try it and if so did you get any results? For some reason the idea of giving up coffee seems to be very difficult for me.

The only diet I try to adhere to is high protein, low fat, low carb.

Good timing Vegan. I'm about a week into being a raw vegan. Still too early for any serious results. I can say that i do feel much better. Much more energy, mind feels clearer, and i just feel so much healthier already. Can't wait to see how it progresses with time.

There is a good forum at rawfoodtalk.com. One of the sub-forums is before and after pictures of the members. A lot of inspiring stunning transformations.

Edit: Oh, and there is nothing saying you have to go 100 percent raw. Do what you can/ are comfortable with and what feels right for you. I am about 95 percent right now trying to get to 100.

Man, I coulldn't even imagine it. I made a 5 lb bone in rib roast that I dry aged for 3 days tonight, it was like butter. More power to ya tho, if you can pull it off. But I think you got the hard part out of the way already anyway........

Couldn't do it. Wouldn't do it. I enjoy food too much. I've always eaten a high-carb, low-fat diet, and it's worked out pretty well for me in that I'm healthy and in pretty good shape. I think I have a high metabolism, and do a lot of walking. I feel sorry for folks who have to avoid carbs, because I don't think I could function without them.

Best thing I've ever done for my energy levels and feelings of well-being is quit smoking and keep caffeine to an absolute minimum.

Yeah not for me either. If I don't get at least one ribeye a week I am a bear (pun intended). I do love sushi/sashimi though, that's a raw food.

You don't win friends with salad.

I wouldn't say I eat a raw diet but I do have a good portion and I find it helpful. I am actually doing a "vegan fast" right now where basically I am eating Vegan for the time between Thanksgiving and Xmas. Most vegetables are a lot better raw as far as health. I eat lots of raw spinach while doing this. It works pretty well for me. But I am also eating Tofu cooked as well as many other bean and veggie products cooked.

I know people who were on this diet for a long period of time and it apparently worked great for them. Vegetables lose a lot fo their nutritious value onec it is cooked, therefore eating it raw is in theory more healthy. I couldn't do it I don't thinkk, but i'd imagine it would have great results.

The alkaline diet is supposedly good for people inflicted by cancer. IF you can keep your bodys ph to a certain point the cancer cannot grow.

I have a frozen pizza, but I think it'd suck if I ate it raw.

I think it takes a lot of supplements and a lot of work to make a fully raw diet sustainable.

So you can't cook anything......................I could do that no problem..................I cook very little of what I eat already....................I get my wife to cook it................ in fact ...............there is a good chance I'm already on this diet.

Life is far too complicated.................until you find the loopholes
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
