    Snuson group project: Crowd-sourcing deals

Some of the members, particularly those from high-tax states, need some assistance from their Snuson bretheren. The idea has been proposed that we could sync & consolidate our orders in a way that would benefit everyone in the snuson community.

The problem we face with PACT: Shipping is expensive, and some states have tax rates that are out of line to say the least.

The solution: This problem can be circumvented (legally) if we all work together.

Shipping is cheap when you do BIG bulk orders. A roll of snus is roughly 1lb, yet it costs $15 to ship 1 roll and only $23 to ship 8 rolls. (for me anyways)

Additionally, some people live in states where the taxes are so high that the tax equals or exceeds the cost of the snus.

WHAT WE CAN DO TO HELP:

As Snusdog proposed, those of us in low tax states should volunteer our services to others, in order to benefit the Snuson community. If we could all agree on 1 or two flavors, and routinely do a mass order, say every 3-6 months, we could all save big time on our snus.

    The way it would work:
    • We have an official thread for each bulk order, a poll will decide what flavor is most requested by the participants.
    • Once the flavor is decided, all those who wish to participate will send their money to 1 trusted Snuson veteran who lives in a low tax state
    • He will then place on large order, which will make shipping cheap and taxes low.
    • He will then ship out the snus to those who ordered it, passing the savings on to them. (shipping will be paid by those ordering)
    • The person who orders it gets paid because for every 8 rolls you order you get 1,000 bonus points. So 1 free roll of any snus to whoever places the order for everyone.

    EXAMPLE:

1 roll of Thunder Frosted, shipped to me= $4.50 per can

9 rolls of Thunder Frosted, shipped to me = $2.90 per can

(NOTE: Maximum order is 9 rolls. Northerner will not ship anything over 9.5 lbs in any 1 shipment)

Easily we see that the price of our snus was almost cut in half using this process. Someone who is paying 90-100$ per roll in a high tax state could instead buy their snus for $26.10 per roll plus another $10 for shipping. THIS IS A HUGE SAVINGS, almost $70 off per roll for those in high-tax states.

The poll: Would you be willing to participate in this if it was established here on the forum. Participation= buying a roll or more and having it shipped to someone in a low tax state (who would then ship to you) AND/OR if you live in a low-tax state, if you are willing to recieve the bulk order.

EDIT: Note this is not a public poll, it will not say who voted for what so don't be afraid to say no if that applies to you.

Poll not found. I'm broker than broke, and can't afford even shipping at this time, but I fully endorse this idea. It should work out for everyone involved.

Why does it have to be one kind? I know that makes it easier, but I really have my heart set on one day enjoying a portion of Odens ES. And no one else likes it much.

        I love Odens.

It could be more than 1 flavor, but be advised that buying 8 rolls of one brand comes with a discount. Even if it were multiple flavors, we would still save on the tax and the shipping, just wouldn't get the bonus for buying lots of the same flavor.

Sorry about the poll, it's up now.

WE CAN FIGHT THE GOVERNMENT. We can circumvent their BS by legally pooling our money, buying a large order, and then legally transfering the shipment to each other without making a profit, hence no need for a resale license, and no added taxes.

It seems to me it doesn't have to be 1 kind. The way I envision it, is a low taxer acts almost as a retailer. High taxers put in their order, low taxers execute it, and ship it out. Keep in mind there's some legal liability here, so I wouldn't shout about it too much, and as with all internet transactions, know who you're dealing with. I think it would work though, and is a great idea.

Definitely great idea. My suggestion would be once a conduit is established we move to PM mode for those interested.

Yes, once we decide who (if anyone)) wants to participate, the person acting as the "shipper/reciever" will drop a dummy email address onto the thread which participants can then email to place their orders. PM is not secure at all.

Additionally, only trusted snuson members may participate. No new people or those who have not done business with members on the forum in the past.

Once people start emailing the shipper/reciever, perhaps he can give out a phone number and conduct it by phone instead of writing it down forever in an email. Either way, it's not really illegal technically. There is no problem with one friend gifting money to another friend and then later in the month that friends recieves a gift of snus.

There's some USPS regulations regarding weight limits for private shipments and such, as well as individual state limitations. I'd just wrap them tight(you don't want a blow out), no insurance, and hope for the best.

I wish I could volunteer, but I'll be the one needing to reap the benefits. New York snusers pay attention to all this! I haven't been reading your threads, but I assume you're all still in a bind? This is a great idea.

As are MA and WO snusers. I too wish I could volunteer but also need to be on the receiving end.

Northerner can only ship 90 cans (9 rolls)
Therefore the receiver would receive no more than 9 rolls at a time. Those rolls would be for multiple people, and I know you can ship 3 or 4 rolls to an individual without issue.

I don't think the weight restriction will be any problem at all.

Plus we probably won't be labeling what it is. Wrapped and stuffed in a box. I get 5lb packages all the time from places, no problems. USPS, if it fits, it ships, flat rate postage.

For me, 90 cans only cost me

                          $26 in tax
                          $23 in shipping

I know this is WAY cheaper than some of you guys are getting, and i'm not even in a "low" tax state technically. People could save hundreds if we decide to do this.

What about doing the same but not using Northerner? I'd be down for this but I want to try both V2 and Gotlands Julesnus los (V2 julesnes isn't carried by Northerner). Likewise, MaKe WeBo doesn't carry Gellivare...
