Second question: Is is competitive? I mean "dye off" makes it sound like its a competition. How would one even go about judging such an event? Would it be strictly by quantity, or would there be consideration for artistry of dye-jobs?

Third and final question: What color are they dying them? Red would be the best. If we had a shitload of red fish and birds running all over the globe I figure we are only like two steps away from the apocalypse. 2012!

Lol, i saw it and corrected the spelling immediately but it won't stick for some reason. I keep hitting save.

The bird thing could be related to chemtrails.

My wild guess is leaning towards something related to the oil spill.
The millions of gallons of oil thinner they used might of caused a big ecosystem fart that is expanding into the freshwater. The fumes are rising in the air currents.

I say the wee critters are simply mass committing suicide. Its been reported that this holiday season has been the most depressing in many years.

              Who can blame them?
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

The leading theory i've heard is that all 1,000 birds got startled and flew into each other, causing them all to die instantly. Apparently they had been missing each other before?

                /Sounds like BS to me

It was probably secret test of mass kill with chemtrails to see if such a thing could be done to the society once the SHTF with 2012 and whatnot.

Mystery solved, and it didn't even involve the end of the world Hitler UFO's pollution or even JC. Just some freaked out blackbirds who can't see in the dark.

It could be related to the pole shift that occurred.

                            Deaths not uncommon

Wright said large-scale deaths of birds and other species are not uncommon.

Storms, for instances, wreak havoc on bird populations. Birds are also vulnerable to chemical pollution and biological poisoning from natural toxins.
For the blackbird species alone, there have been 16 incidents in which 1,000 or more birds have died in single events over the past five years, he said.
The lab analyzes 300 to 500 large die-off events each year. The deaths involve all wildlife - deaths in 2010 are as varied as the demise of 4,500 bats from a fungal infection known as white-nose syndrome in Bucks County, Pa., to the death of 150 raccoons, striped skunks, coyotes and red fox in Los Angeles County.

The lab's website shows nine separate mortality events since December alone. Eight of those events involved bird species and one involved the gunshot deaths of dozens of Brazilian free-tailed bats near Pima, Ariz.

The National Wildlife Health Center also played a key role in the study of chronic wasting disease in Wisconsin's white-tailed deer population after an outbreak in February 2002.

"We don't know what we are going to get tomorrow, or the next day, but it will be something," Wright said.

Why jump to irrational assumptions when rational ones work much better.

Because irrational ones are more fun ;P

I watch a show on SyFy called Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files. It's a fun show, but just because you can duplicate something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Its a cover-up of some sort of evil doing. Those birds didn't just hit something hard and knock themselves out of the sky. Look at the photos....birds all over. Do you see any large buildings, trees and such for them to fly into? Yea they had signs of blunt trauma but you would too if you fell out of the sky. Surely some could perish that way but not the thousands that are reported dieing. The photos tell it all. The governments [or terrorists] are covering something up. More likely testing some evil weapon that will eventually be thrust upon us.

same thing with the fish, bats or any other mass die-offs lately.
