        1. It is illegal to fish for whales on Sunday.

        2. Breast feeding is not allowed in public.

        3. It is illegal for more than five women to live in a house.

        3. Women are prohibited from wearing patent leather shoes in public.

        4. It is illegal to get a fish drunk.

        5. It is illegal to mistreat anything of great importance.

        6. No one may be arrested on Sunday or on the Fourth of July. (damn I am going to have to start taking advantage of this one )

EDIT: Just to clarify most if not all of the laws are outdated, I wouldn't want to be the reason someone gets arrested on sunday

Salaries in U.S really differ from one state from another....

Anyway ... U.S is starting to pick up in the last years.... studies show that salaries are very similar in U.S compared to Norway .....

                http://www.payscale.com/research/US/..._States/Salary

The only difference is that in Norway everything is so damn expensive... the rent probably are the same as in U.S but the food is killing ..... we used to spend $2500 on food a month.... in the late 95 - 2000 ....

BTW the lowest average salary worldwide is in cuba .... it's simply incredible....

But the impact in terms of purchasing power will be limited, the BBC's Michael Voss in Havana says.

Raul Castro has brought in a series of gradual social reforms
The average wage in Cuba for everyone - from doctors to farm labourers - is about $20 (£10) a month.

20 dollars a month? wow I can't even comprehend how anyone can live on 20 dollars a month. I'm living with my parents and struggling to get by on 400 a month. Jobs are not to easy to come by right now

                    Pigs in a Blanket.

MN is a hard place to pick up and leave. It is just comfortable enough to not want to but thought about often.
Kinda like a great paying, dead end job.

Many always talk about how they wish they could go here or there because of better weather/more money/bigger city but most end up weighing the options and talking themselves out of it. Including myself.

A small winter getaway Flat in Playa Del Carmen would complete me though.

It might be as precious007 says, that you are picking up. I read it in a Norwegian book from 1998. But still I can't get it sorted. Norwegians spends the lowest percentage of their salaries on food, and food is much more expensive than in the US. To give you something to compare with, a fridgemate of regular Coca-Cola costs 22 Dollars over here.

The Norwegian poverty line (I've learned the right term now) was 127 000 Norwegian Kroner in 2008. As it's increasing every year, I think it is about 130 000 now. After tax. 130 000 Norwegian kroner is 22,333.90 dollars. With the high taxes we've got, they would earn about 170 000 before tax. Another thing I should inform about is that these persons gets house and electricity covered by the government. They will also get "ekstra barnebidrag" or "extra child support" by the government.

Yeah I learned in microeconomics that the U.S. GDP is higher than it is because they use household income rather than individual, using household income means divorced single women are overrepresented. So when you hear something like 30 percent of american children live in poverty it's 30 percent of households, but the actual number of kids will be around 15-20 percent probably less since the middle class and the rich have more children which I find surprising and I would say is probably good overall. Same thing with talk about income distribution which is cited by households not individuals. Another thing is poverty tends to be regional in places inner urban and rural areas. Immigration is another thing that's not factored in too that if you arrive here with a high school education or less and only make 25 grand and have 2 kids after moving from mexico or africa where you might have made 4 grand is that a big deal if it's temporary. Stuffs also cheaper here like cars and houses/apartments. Also how do norwegians spend less on food there're people who spend under three grand a year on food and it's not hard to do really.

It's not counted in amounts, but in per cent. Food is expensive, but salaries are high. There is also very few private schools, universities and hospitals here, so we save alot on that.

Consider the cost of living in Cuba is among the lowest in the world while not at Central African conditions, then 20 a month would be enough.

Yeah people always forget cost of living when they hear about poverty it's like omg 3000 dollars a year that's impossible and then you learn that cell phone service is 5 dollars a month and they don't have houses, cars, electricity, so they just spend all it on food and basic essentials and then the "excess" on education, alcohol, tobacco, medical care, etc.

Hanske I think americans spend 8.6 percent or so of their excess income on food fiftty percent that includes eating out. I traveled to norway and it was absolutely nuts I think we ate meatballs, bread, potatoes, fish, and butter (which is like an official dish over there) eating out is insanely expensive like 20 dollars a meal, my impression is norwegians are cheap on food (my family is half norwegian my grandma was really cheap and we eat like the cheapest stuff ever mostly fast food and whatever meat is on sale, costco bulk food and stuff even though my parents make 250,000+ a year I tend to splurge on a bit on food like chipotle less now though.

Off topic but why is food so expensive there anyway like why is a 1.5L coke five dollars there and one dollar in the U.S.?
