first let me echo the sentiment that you had better not go anywhere.............the forum would not be the same/sane without you
Second, you might do a mix and match........rather than an either or
use a sark..............keep it in a little longer than you might normally....................then throw in one of the lower TNSA dips
or even a smaller pris of los
If you do 6 starks a day and can cut it to 3 by stretching a can of los/dip over a week................then this will cut the snus bill significantly.
Mind you I chain snus los and a can will last 4 day................augment this with three portions a day and you have got a can of los and a can of portions lasting you 8 days (i.e. two cans a week)
I'd get stark los though and use prises that are 3/4 to 1/2 the size of a regular portion
And while I am at it
Bp good to see you up and posting ol friend..............hope all is wellWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Wishing you the best Sgreger,
I don't honestly think that it will be that hard for you if you haven't smoked.... smoking is the real habit that's hard to break..... snus shouldn't be that nasty....
Cutting down on your usage, slowly to the last can should do the trick.... and meanwhile try nicotine gum.... however that's kind'of expensive.... a lot more expensive than snus if you'll be using one box per day...... and be careful - nicotine gum is also addictive.... hope you don't get hooked on that shit. (I personally can't stand nicotine gum, it paralizes my throat)

Yeah I would just try and quit for a while and save the money. Knowing that making 90,000 a year doesn't give you enough discretionary income to spend 3-4 dollars a day I'm adding San Francisco to my list of never live places it was already there but now it's somewhere between Somalia and Detroit.

Wow, Sgregr...I'm a little shocked. I know you have the intestinal fortitude to do it and I too would like to read a blog on quitting snus. I'm sure you'd do a good job at it. I too would like to see you continue to post here but I am pretty confident you will all things considered. Lincoln his the nail on the head...if you don't want to quit then you'll just be putting it on pause. Sounds like that's the case here. I've never tried the patches or gum but I can't see them being viable alternatives. Cold-turkey sucks a big one as I did it with cigs but somehow I'd imagine snus to be more difficult. Maybe not in a moody kinda way but more of a personal struggle. Other than the money it's not that bad really.
What about a 1-day a week job for snus? Maybe that sounds bad but I've got a buddy that's nearly 40 and he delivers papers on Sunday mornings. He has been doing this for years so now he's built up quite the route but he started it to fund his habits. Most of which he's quit but he uses the money for a couple of vices and goes on a family vacation each year. With a little cut back and a little bump in cash you might just be happier in the end.
The regulars don't feel right now...but you'll get used to them. 5 cans of los should be enough to ween yourself down pretty good though. Well, good luck whichever road you choose I wish you the best. Let us know what you do!

I was trying to cut down on them and actually ended up smoking more. I wasn't smoking for say ... 6 hours and the next hour I pushed 6 cigarettes and ended up smoking way more than a pack a day...
I go with the cold turkey ... it's the only road to success... might be a little harder... but it's the ONLY way....

I have had to go without snus for a few months a couple of times. Both times snuff kept me going and cost pennies. I hear that menthol has a psychological addiction potential for some, so maybe if you can find a medicated snuff that agrees with you. My Mrs. didn't like me using snuff but kind of came around in the end.

I did not use a tremendous amount of snus and moist snuff, but I quit in December and have had no tobacco or other nicotine, since. Dec 21 was the last day I had any, so today is my 29th day without.
i was thinking about wanting it a lot, last week, but now it is pretty much out of mind. Physically, it hasn't been any problem at all. But again, I was not a heavy user.

To use a full can a day means 24 portions, now we generally have sleep time, say 8 hrs, that's 16 hrs left, then there has to be times without snus, like meals. I mean, for 16 hours a day you could knock that down to 12 and take one every hour. A can a day seems to me you must keep a portion in 10 mins, spit it out, and immediately put another in all day. That's like smoking 8 packs a day, I can't fathom it. I usually keep a portion in a half an hour, I used to for over an hour when I first started, but I think that was bad on my gums, which is the main reason I have contemplated quitting. But I usually have 4 portions a day for about a hald hour at a time. I have one in now with my morning coffee. I might have 6 portions some days.

My vote like others here would be to do a major taper down if you have not already for a couple more weeks to maybe one or two a day. Then pick a Monday-Wed to go cold turkey. Weekends have always been nicotine taps for me because you have too much freedom to get bored or stressed with family and think about using.
Another option is to just continue with the taper down until it becomes normal usage. When I sterked down my system strangely seemed to re-boot over a couple months to needing less nicotine to function. My usage is cut in half if not more now. No more sterks and no more serious I could really use a snus now moments.
It is similar to when I only smoked strong regular smokes and then eventually tapered to lighter brands with less usage. Sure there were days where I needed some big drags but for the most part I survived smoking less.
We are all fricken junkies of one sort or another here!

I think you need weed and portions to taper down.
Lol, well I've got both of those boxes checked.I normally only use portions, but all I have is this roll of los that I traded with outbackjack. I don't plan on buying any more, so all I have is what i've got. I'm just going to go for it, i'm starting today. I think I may keep a brief log like GoVegan said, that would be kind cool for a post.

Lol, no I just double barrel portions, that's the problem. I wouldn't go through them so fast if I used 1 at a time.
I am thinking cold turkey, as every time I put a snus in I just want it more. I am goign to have 1 prilla all day, that is my goal today. Then tomorrow i'm going to cut it completely. I will keep a short log to track any changes I have each day.
