    40 oz beers.

I like to drink 40 oz beer or malt liquor. I have never found a reason to drink more expensive beer unless I am having family or friends over. Mind you, I like good beer as well, truly I do, but I do not buy it very often since it seems pointless and very expensive for my tastes (I am not finicky). I am a big Miller High Life guy. I used to buy a 30 pack once a week for $11 from the state of IN. Now that everything, especially beer, is more expensive I tend to buy a 40 oz at the end of the day. My favorite is Magnum by Miller, since it tastes quite like Miller High Life, but is a little sweeter. My point in this post is 1) do you drink 40 oz beer or malt liquor and 2) what is your preference? I used to joke with family and friends that the town I moved to has the freshest malt liquor in MI. Another reason for me posting: http://www.40ozmaltliquor.com. I swear this malt liquor site is one of the funniest review places that I have ever came across. These people must be crazy. My friend found this site at work many years ago and it has kept me laughing ever since. Enjoy.

Don't like 40's but like cheap beer as I've said elsewhere. Icehouse 30 packs for $15 is my source to freedom!

I gave it up long ago, but I used to put away a lot of malt liquor. I can recall that sweet taste of Magnum that you mention. My favorite was the 40s of Olde English 800. At 8% alcohol it packed a pretty good wallop as opposed to plain old beer and had the best dollar to buzz ratio of anything short of fortified wine.

I wish beer prices were like they are in the states up here in Canada , but I pay at least $20 for a 12 pack and that is cheap here , I normally get a beer called Hells Gate Lager and it is $21 for a 15 pack
last time I was vacationing in California , I was getting 30packs of PBR for $9.99 and staying ripped all day good times

I rarely drink 40's anymore, but I used to drink a lot of Beast Ice and Hurricane High Gravity. Now I drink in moderation and tend to prefer craft beers, especially anything brewed by Sierra Nevada, Samuel Adams, Unibroue, Dogfish Head, or Flying Dog. The worst cheap beer is Steel Reserve -- the flavor is very inconsistent between batches and tasted gnarly almost every time.

I'm mostly a wine and scotch/irish whisky kinda guy these days too. But back in the day(mid-1990's), I used to like 40's of Mickey's quite a bit. There was a convenience store a few blocks down the street that sold em for $1.50 a pop, and 2 or 3 of em was more than enough to do ya proper.

Best 5-dollar drunk in town, at the time.

                    My Man!!

As stated above, I hate 40's due to them getting warm and tasting like ass. I'm also more into the micro-brews, Arrogant Bastard and Sierra Nevada tops the list. And bottles over cans anyday. Butweiper is about as cheap as I'll go. 'Bout 10-12 bucks for an 18 pack of Bud here. You can get some canned gut-rot - Natty Ice or Keystone here for like 10 bucks a 30 pack, and pickle your Liver on the cheap.

One cool place around here is called Grocery Outlet - like a crappy little discount grocery store, but they always have foreign ales, stouts, and pilsners from all over the damn world - Australia, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Norway, and yes........even Sweden.

Picked up some of this here not long ago:

Its called Nils - Oscar, from Sweden. Dark-Stout, similar to Guiness.

Miller High Life. At least it's the Champagne of Beers but it always gives me a hell of a headache. Too sweet for my liking. My wife was told to increase her iron levels so now there's always cans of Guinness in the fridge. I prefer whiskey or wine myself, but $20 for an 18pack of Guinness isn't bad at all.

Mickey's. Though I prefer it in a case of hand grenades, is the only malt liquor I will buy for nostalga. I don't drink enough beer in one sitting to make a 40 worth it.

I love microbrews and good (read expensive) beers but my wallet prefers high life. That is my cheap beer of choice since I was in college. I also have been known to buy some Coors banquet beer on sale.

I love bourbon and whiskey and rum but only buy one bottle of liquor a quarter and ration it...

Now I have been drinking more wine though (for healthiness) and go with the "upscale" box wine.

I guess I would rather have the cheap stuff on hand and get something I really enjoy when I am really in the mood for it.

I'm more of a glass o' skyy and a cigar guy, but a 30 rack of high life is really where the beer is.

That's where I'm at with it, and it's pure nostalgia. I highly dislike the flavor of malt liquor. The first sip is the best, and it only gets worse from there. When I was young, I didn't much like beer.I drank it at parties to fit in with everyone else, but I wasn't enjoying it. After I turned 21, I had a Guinness while out bar hopping, and it was a revelation. I not only tolerated it, I enjoyed it, and thought it was delicious.

After primarily drinking Guinness for awhile, that led me to other styles on the "premium" end of things, and I turned into a full blown beer snob; I wouldn't drink anything cheap. As I've gotten older, I started appreciating cheap beer more and more. I can enjoy Natty Boh, PBR, High Life, and prefer many of them to the American standard of Budweiser(Which I won't buy under any circumstances anymore due to being foreign owned). Speaking of foreign owned, I used to love Rolling Rock in the summer. It had a unique grassy taste that went perfect with the season. It changed after Anheuser Busch bought them, and it just seems "fake" now. It's also on my boycott list.

All that said, I much prefer scotch, and Irish. If I'm out at a pub, I'll usually start the night with a beer(hopefully Guinness draught), and drink whisky the rest of the night. I like bourbon, but it doesn't sit well on my stomach. I'm only good for a glass or 2. I can drink scotch till I pass out, and wake up feeling great :^)

I can't stand cheap malt liquor. There was a time when I could, but it's long since passed. I'd drink a 40 of Rainier or PBR if I was camping, for the weight and convenience of it, but as long as I'm in walking distance of my fridge I much prefer frequently-opened, cold, crisp, good quality beers. I drink a lot of 22oz beers I guess, but no 40s for me.
