Yes panic, pay no attention to the fact arnold schwartznagger, sylvester stalone, and others are classified as obese. I think I'm obese too based on BMI, I feel more kind of fat but whatever.
I wonder if there are data that show rates of morbid obesity (BMIs of 40 or greater)? These figures could well shift about quite a lot if that were looked at in isolation since the rates for "normal" obesity and morbid obesity would not necessarily rise in perfect tandem. Also the figures in the graph seem low. Walk through any mall or supermarket and the chances of seeing folks who might be considered slender seem small indeed these days.

10 years ago I dropped to 185 6/2 in BMI normal range and friends joked that I was dying from AIDS.
Norway's rate gotta be lower than Colorado's. We are pretty average in Europe. "Lighter" than Denmark, Germany and the UK, but fatter than Italy, Russia & Eastern Europe. My generation is heavier than my parent's though. I've grown up with seeing McD and BK everywhere, and drinking Cola and Red Bull every day. I'm not obese, as I work out a lot, but I would be if I didn't.
Norway is the world's 91st fattest country. Sweden is 90th. The US is 9th, and Italy is 111th. The only country I was wrong about is Denmark. They're 108th.
You know... I hear this a lot, but the people that make this observation have never, in my experience, actually looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Stallone (I mean in their prime - now? It's probably right.).
