I'm usually tweaking some little thing or another. I just liked how this looked after I'd played around with ratpoison for a couple of hours instead of WMaker. Screen-esque key-bindings are always nice for me, second only to vim-style ones. I mostly stole someone else's .conkyrc, with a couple of tweaks. I did change my PS1 lately though, and I'm kind of proud of that one. Now I've got: PS1="\[\e[0;31m\][\u@\h - \W] \n[\t \d]$" which is working nicely for me.
It's snowing! I've been playing around with the Compiz settings, and I really dig the snow. It's a little warm for it today, but it's a good winter touch :^)
Are you using Rainmeter on your desktop there, or is that some Linux thing?
I got a nice rainmeter desktop overlay with all my stats etc and a dreamscene animated background of a tree with leaves falling, i'll post it later. Still not sure what to do with my desktop yet.
Premium Parrots: only if the carpet matches the drapes.
Crow: Of course, that's a given.
Crow: Imagine a jet black 'raven' with a red bush?
Crow: Hmm... You know, that actually sounds intriguing to me. Premium Parrots: sounds like a freak to me
Premium Parrots: remember DO NOT TURN YOUR BACK ON CROW Premium Parrots: not that it would hurt one bit if he nailed you with his little pecker.
Frosted: lucky twat Frosted: Aussie slags Frosted: Mind the STDs Crow

The bar on the side? That's conky. It's a configurable display, that can show just about anything. Mine's pretty simple, but you can do some advanced stuff with it. It's all user configured, so it isn't very friendly to start with, but it's quite powerful. The easiest way to get started is by copying someone elses' config, and then adapting it for your specific purposes, and adding your own tweaks. It can be a huge time sink, but it's addictive, fun, and satisfying :^)

At the risk of sounding stupid, does this put your terminal on the desktop? Is that what I'm seeing on the right side; a terminal based IM client?
Nope, it just changes that little bit at the beginning of the next line that might say [lxskllr@localhost] for you. Mine is two-lined version. On the first line it prints [$user@$host - $Working directory] and the second prints 24-hour time in HH:MM:SS format and the current date. Everything gets printed in red. And it is indeed a CLI IM client, finch in the bottom right. The left side of that shot is taken up by another terminal running irssi in screen. It's just urxvt with true transparency enabled.
Here's a decent rundown of PS1 tweaking if you're interested in fiddling with it. Pretty easy, but you can do somenice little things that add up to make the terminal more pleasant to use.
