Well, I think los snus is a habit more for the "grown-ups" rather than teenagers ... and young people that are usually more into smoking .. unfortunatelly.

Hm, no... wasn't me. My brother uses snus though, but he is older than 12, and do not use Knox. No other in my family uses snus.

Some start very early as with cigarettes, and maybe try their first prilla or smoke their first cigarette at age <11... they think it's something cool to do (because the grown-ups do it) and a lot of them get hooked.

But I would say that most start at age 13-15 though. And many starts smoking at that age and quits with snus a few years later.

Stellan Skarsgård, the famous actor, is 60 years old and uses General loose.

Bjorn Ulvaeus from Abba is 66 and uses Ettan portions.

Lots of Scandinavian musicians use snus, among them Mikkey Dee (drummer for Motorhead, about 50 years old) and King Diamond (age 55) as well as most of his bandmates. Eddie Meduza died at 53 and Billy Opel is about the same age.

Probably the oldest Swedish snuser I can think of is Nils Karlsson (Mora-Nisse), the famous champion skier and Ettan user. He turns 94 this June.

Here in Ephemeris Land, our columnist Bill Johnson uses (or has used) pretty much every form of tobacco known to man, including snus. He is 82.

This guy looks pretty old. I don't understand what is being said in the video, so perhaps someone who speaks Swedish could enlighten me.

The video is a fifteen year old Norwegian news clip. The guy had an awesome Hedmarks-dialect, by the way. "Då tog je snuseska".

He was 82 years old. Apparantly he had been trapped in a ditch for two nights. He survived by eating mud, and used his snus can as a spoon.

When you see this guys cloths, you know what a "bygdis" is. He is a true Norwegian redneck, from Hedmark.

Actually, he had a dialect that was impossible to understand. I understood about 20% of what he said.

EDIT: He has his own Facebook fan page. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2250617400

Wow, I thought America was the home of the redneck... then again I don't know any other country that takes pride in/has truck balls, or has a t.v. show anything like cops, which is a staple to this countries redneck subculture.

That's why I wrote true Norwegian redneck.

If you go to the Norwegian countryside, you'll see loads of people wishing they were American. It's just awful.

How do you ID a Norwegian redneck in the field? What are the top 5 defining characteristics?

                              Example, American redneck...

NASCAR Tshirt, a beat one for WalMart, and a nice one for going out to dinner :^D

Car is minimum 6 years older than the local standard. Likely never washed, with visible improvised repairs.

House has dogs chained up out front 24/7

Yard is decorated with old furniture, appliances, and various mechanical parts.

English is different than the local standard.

I don't necessarily equate a farmer with a redneck, though there's some overlap in traits. A farmer's hickish tendencies are more out of necessity, rather than the laziness, or not giving a shit of the redneck.

A little something to describe Snusdogs tragic "shortcomings"

Very sad turning point in man's life.

Whether or not you are a country music fan, these are truly the words of a deep thinker, and a highly intelligent person. So simple, yet so profound! Read the words of wisdom from that famous philosopher Willie Nelson, iconic country and western singer, on his 75th birthday below his esteemed portrait. Only a man with such wisdom and maturity could be so concise and succinct in phrasing his feelings at this turning point in his life.

                                "I have outlived my pecker."

                                The Penis Poem
                                My nookie days are over,
                                My pilot light is out.
What used to be my sex appeal,
                                Is now my water spout.
Time was when, on its own accord,
From my trousers it would spring.
But now I've got a full time job,
                                To find the f***in' thing.
                                It used to be embarrassing,
                                The way it would behave.
                                For every single morning,
It would stand and watch me shave.
                                Now as old age approaches,
It sure gives me the blues.
To see it hang its little head,
And watch me tie my shoes!!
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
