Tis true. Up until recently I didn't have one, and I was so envious of anyone that did.

There's frig all difference between Android or iphone apart from the price. Android is excellent - so is the iphone.
It's like arguing about how much better it is to have 1,000,000 dollars as opposed to 999,999.

I dithered a lot between HTC and Apple before deciding on the iphone 4, and have never regretted my decision. It sounds a bit sad, but it's the best bit of technology I've ever bought.

Although, I've not got a fleshlight yet.

There is nothing better quality than Apple. I have iPad, iPhone, MacBook Pro and wouldn't trade them for the world. All dem Apple haters are just jealous. <awaiting flames>

Yes, jealous of having something that costs a lot more for hardware and software, is harder to find stuff for and charges $80 for a battery change on an ipod. I am just seething with jealousy right now. If Apple didn't have Itunes with it's huge music library, it would have bit the dust long ago.

It costs more for the same thing you can get cheaper. I just priced a new MacBook Pro (15" model) with upgraded features... $3400+, can get the exact specs on a $800 machine. That being said, the quality of the product is worlds apart. MacBook Pro... unibody aluminum, excellent display, lasts a long time (generally), just a quality product (and I have access to the Geniuses). The $800 laptop on the other hand was plastic, nice display, but Windows, errors, driver issues, in the shop before the warrantee expired with DVD issues (this is the machine I got my dad so I know). Of course for the same price I can buy 3 of the cheap laptops and replace them when the crap out but honestly, I love OS X. I have to work in Windows at work and can't wait to get home to my Snow Leopard.

I have had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with Linux a few times (albeit from a technical aspect) and it is great for tweakers, but you can't beat OS X for ease of installing and uninstalling software. Unlike Windows or even Linux, you never have to worry about driver issues.

I don't care for OSX. It seems to combine the worst features of Windows and Linux. You get the poor compatibility of Linux, and the locked down features of Windows.

I'm very anti Apple. I blow it up a bit because I treat it like a sports rivalry. I don't watch sports, so I get my competition from O/Ss :^D I really do dislike Apples approach. They're a bunch of control freaks, and a big reason I like computers is because it gives the user control to do what they want. I'll rebel against the "appliance" approach to computing to the very end. I also don't like the "status symbol" aspect of Apple products. It seems like a lot of people get them to buy into an "exclusive" club, and their computers have the exact same guts as everyone else's, they just paid twice as much for it :^D

One thing I'll give Apple is their industrial design is first rate. They do make a beautiful product, but god help you if you want to change a battery or something :^/

I have owned had my Moto droid since it came out. Absolutely love it. I'm not a fan of apple no particular reason but i im not gonna flame on anyone who is. Everyone has there preference. This phone holds up very well though. I have had no problems with it at all. I have dropped in the toilet once and its hit the ground several times, its still rockin with no problems. I'm kinda nervous about how the next one will hold up when i finally upgrade.

All valid points and I will not try and defend Apple's practices. I bought an MSI netbook and a Nook Color for that very reason (to experiment with and tweak). There is a positive side to the nazi-ish control freakness of Apple, and that is you get products you can be fairly certain will always work as they should (because no one can do things to them they aren't allowed to). So I have Apple products for things I want to be stable and work the way they should when they should (yes there are exceptions I realize) and then I have other cheaper alternatives for writing apps, rooting, Linux-ing, etc.

I have a AT&T 3g phone with data and texting turned off. I just use it for phone calls.

And, I am not a Luddite. I have spent the last three days flashing my home router to open source software so I can connect to the coming ipv6 internet. So, while I am a computer geek, to me a phone is just a phone. If I want a computer, I will use a computer.

I do want one of those iPad thingies, though.

I'm the other way round here. I have everything on my phone so why would I want a tablet or a computer. I use the video a lot for my kids, read my books, have my diary on it.
The only thing I really use a computer for is access to the internet - but I get that on my phone without having to wait for a boot up.
I can never see myself buying a tablet - they look great but just seem pointless.
