I had a Macbook late last year and to be honest, I think OSX blows compared to Windows7. So far, to me, Windows7 is quite possibly the best operating system on the face of the planet to date. I felt guilty running win7 in boot camp so I just gave the laptop to my son :P

More powerful than iPhone: It’s the Atrix...

      ~
The Atrix 4G offers muscular multitasking
      By Hiawatha Bray
      February 10, 2011

I’m watching a YouTube video as I type this, with an occasional glance at my Facebook page for the latest updates. I just squeezed in a quick phone call to my wife.

Just a typical day at the office, except I’m doing all of this on one of the most anticipated smartphones to be released this year. It’s the Atrix 4G, just lent to me by Motorola Mobility Inc.

I will hate to give it back.

The Atrix, which runs Google Inc.’s popular Android operating system, is surely the most muscular multitasking platform that ever fit into a shirt pocket. Attach it to the optional docking station, with its keyboard and 11.6-inch screen, and the Atrix 4G becomes a capable, light-duty computer that also makes phone calls.

Remember the netbook craze of a couple years back? Well, here we go again, only this time it has speed dial.

Only AT&T Inc. will sell the Atrix 4G in the United States, a nice consolation for having to share its formerly exclusive Apple iPhone franchise with Verizon Wireless. The Atrix is priced the same as the iPhone 4 — $199.99 with a two-year service contract — and AT&T says it will start selling it sometime before March 6.

It is a far more powerful phone than Apple’s iPhone 4. The Atrix features a dual-core processor chip. In effect, you get two processors in one, just the thing for running lots of apps simultaneously. It also has a full gigabyte of memory for running programs, on top of 16 gigs for storing documents, music, photos, and videos. And you can shove in 32 gigs more.

      ...
On the whole, the Atrix 4G is as irresistible as I’d hoped, the smartest new device so far this year.

Writing this right now from Dolphin browser on my x10. Liking this one a lot. Seems faster than the one that came with it. Not sure what the issue was with opera and snuson, but it did force me to look further and find this one. :-)

I use Opera-Mini with SnusOn on my Blackberry for almost a year without any logging in errors (I think I logged on once and now I'm always logged on with it). I run opera-mini version 4.2.

Smart phones are great. I can get a lot more done with email/web/phone on me all the time. My Blackberry has changed my life and I'd hate to go back to a regular old cell phone (Unless I had some other laptop in my pocket too).

Yeah I'm not sure what my deal was. Using Dolphin mini now and I actually like it even better than the regular Dolphin. I can see myself becoming addicted to having this with me all the time. Only issue is that I got the plan with only 200MB of data per month. I am home most of the time and have turned off the 3G on my phone to only use it when I am out and can't find a wireless network. I can see myself getting real familiar with all the open networks in town. :-)

if you held the iphone4 wrong or touched a certain area on the phone's edge while on a call it would drop the call, at first they suggested putting duct tape around the edge of the iphone4, OR!!! you could maybe test the phone for reception issues before release considering... it... umm... is a phone and more than likely people are going to use it to make a call...

I have to disagree. There are apps that are not on both phones. Particularly the iphone has more musician related apps that function as mobile recorders, sequencers, and just general song scratch pads. Those are just not available on android at this time.

However Android can download music form amazon. I loath Itunes.

I really wanted to go android when I got the iphone. I went into the store, the new backflip was out, although rather tucked in the corner. In the proces of testing it I got 3 crashes, all doing simple things like checking email or opening a web page. This was on the floor model and on one that an employee had been learning on during the day. The iphone on the other hand that probably 50 people a day messed with just worked. And for a phone that was important for me.

When the time comes to switch I will give the android phones another look. I hope to be impressed then. However the just works factor is a big deal. I use linux as my primary OS at home, so I am not afraid of tweaking, but broken out the box for basic functionality would shy me away from most any package. I hope it improves, and I hope certian app categories expand.

I will also say that the iphone is the closest to a laptop replacement I have ever had in a phone, after years of Symbian and Pocket PC this really gets me doing what I need to do mobile. Heck I have been at gigs on a VNC session with my development server at home on the iphone with no problems.

The main reason i prefer apple for small electronics is because the quality is so much higher. I mean pc's are churned out by the millions with little care for quality. My mom just bought a pc and it got slow after like 4 months of use and the keys are breaking etc cause they are cheap. I pay extra for the iphone not because its shiny but because it works every time. If i used it for a million consecutive hours it would still work just as good.

And they have more apps. Androids seem great, and i wanted to buy one, but every single person i know who got an android phone says it got slow and stopped working as well almost immediately. With the iphone my 2 years old uses it every day and get chocolate and shit on it and then throws it at the wall. Still works every time.

                          ok.

I'm an android user and I haven't had any crashes or suffered from lack of apps that I want and the quality is excellent. There has been absoloutely no degradation in performance since I got it so I've got absoloutely no idea what you're on about. Is this something iphone users just tell themselves to make themselves feel better about the cash they're forking out cause from an Android users POV this is total crap.

Don't think I'm an Android defender over iphone - I don't care. I just call geek crap when I hear it.

Every Windows has been better than the previous since at least Win3.1. Any problems with Windows is user generated.

Windows 7 is better because now some of your apps and devices don't work anymore. Now you have to upgrade your I mean spend more money for new stuff. It's good for the economy they say.

That's bullshit. Windows has sucked for the last like 4 versions, i've owned every one of them. Why is it chic to have something that requires intensive user-side knowledge to operate it, why is windows better because it requires you to maintenance it more and protect it more actively from viruses etc?

And why does it always get slow so fast, every single computer i've ever had.
