Just a little late summer update:

    Blink 182 - Neighborhoods 9-27-11

New Found Glory - Radiosurgery 10-4-11

Star Fu@#ing Hipsters - From The Dumpster To The Grave 10-11-11

    Thrice - Major/Minor 9-20-11

Red Hot Chili Peppers - I'm With You 8-30-11

The Horrible Crowes - Elsie 9-6-11

Gotta be the best year in pop punk since 1994 with Dookie and Smash. Hell, gotta be the best year in music period since 1994. New Chili Peppers is ok. Better than their last record. Flogging Molly owned with Speed of Darkness. The two songs I've heard from Blink kick ass, and Thrice is rocking as usual. If you like The Gaslight Anthem, check out The Horrible Crowes.
Also, if your a fan of Strung OUt, they released a best of, with three new songs and a collage of fan tat pics. I'm in it!

Punk died in the 80's!! OK only as far as some are concerned, I'll concede.

            I agree with this 100%.

Nu-Punk/Pop Punk will never be this good.

when they became popular the lingering vibe of PUNK which did die in the 80's seemed to linger no more...

I blame those POP PUNkf#$kers and bands like them that did re-invent new music but dropped the torch.

There are some really good PUNK bands out there but just like the glory days of the 60's, the scene/vibe whatever you call it is pretty much over.

You could really compare a lot of different music to how it loses something. Like I cannot stand modern FUN BLUES but really like the old stuff..

GRUNGE was okay but NEW SOFT GRUNGE sucks and anybody playing it should be fined and schooled.

You seem a little harsh - I must say. I do not like this music either, but freedom of speech also covers the freedom to play what you want ( even though many of us wish it wasn't so ).

                    ((Personally I'm a country/Metal/rock/classical music -kind-of-kid))

... Ah, I never said it was good... I just said it was allowed to be there - I just regret the current choices of my generation(listening to music like Justin Bieber).
But in my sort of 'hippie-like' definition of "music is music" I guess it is.. Urgh.. I hate saying that.
Personally I can't stand this modern pop music, it makes me sort of depressed to listen to that kind of music... But I guess it has as much right to exist as anything else.

Also haven't heard Anarchy in the UK for a long time, so thanks for posting it

I don't really pay much attention to modern music. I can't remember the last time I was aware of what's current.
I'm a huge Dave Matthews Fan, I've followed them religiously since they came out. They're really the only band I keep up with that is still making music.
Most of the time my iPhone is tuned into Pandora playing 90's music - which is the last time I can remember music actually being good.

Well, I do like quite a lot of music made in the recent years - but it's not exactly what you would call modern.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKEiePB6IVM is made in 2009, yet I simply love it.

No, just a grumpy old Punk Rock Dinosaur that sold myself out years ago.
