2011: A Great Year In Music.

Last year was horrible for music. I only bought three albums. The Gaslight Anthem, Alkaline Trio, and My Chemical Romance.

    This year is different.

Social Distortion and The Get Up Kids have already put out an album in January.

    I'm looking forward to:

R.E.M. - Collapse Into Now (The 5 songs I've heard have all been really good)

Rise Against - Endgame (I've been a fan since the first album, before they were ever on the radio)

Screeching Weasel - First World Manifesto (the band that got me into punk rock, it's their first album in 11 years)

Green Day - Awesome As F@*k! (Just a live album, but it does have an unreleased song on it)

Foo Fighters - Wasting Light (First single White Limo sounds like 1995 Foo! It rocks)

Yellowcard - When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes (another band I listened to before they were on the radio)

Flogging Molly - Speed Of Darkness (first song sounds kinda 60's ish. Different, but still really good)

Other bands who have something planned for this year: No Use For A Name, Blink-182 (finally!), The Ataris, Thrice, Strung Out (They requested fans send in pics of tattoos, hope I made it in!) Red Hot Chili Peppers (though Fruschante left the band, hope it doesn't suck!) New Found Glory, Weezer (though, I don't have much hope for this), The Offspring.

Are there any new albums you guys are looking forward to?

There's rumor of Rage Against The Machine coming out with a new album this year.

Noel Gallagher (lead guitarist and main songwriter for Oasis) is also rumored to release an album in 2011. On the other hand, Beady Eye, the band with the other members of Oasis is dropping an album soon too that I want to check out.

Dropkick Murphys - Going Out In Style in March.

R.E.M - Collapse Into Now in March.

Soundgarden is back in the studio, they had a post on their website a while back saying their goal was a new album in 2011.

Dr. Dre's Detox is rumored to be out this year.

Rush's new album Clockwork Angels is supposed to be out this year.

    Should be a good year!

I agree, I wish Weezer would go back to old Weezer.

Wow you both have the same taste in music that I do, nice! Love Rush. Muse, another favorite, will be working on their new album this year too. I have heard the new Noel Gallagher song, it is good. Also Black Keys and Arcade Fire just released new stuff.

I saw Muse in Dallas not too long ago, I love them. I've listened to them for a while and was excited to see them getting more radio play lately.

I'm excited to see Gogol Bordello live in a month.

Also pretty stoked about the 4 DMB shows this summer. I'm ready for the dates to come out so I can buy tickets. After hearing they were taking a year off for touring and then they're like "well, it's our 20th year together" and planned those 4 three day multi artist events with them headlining each night, I was overjoyed.

Yeah, they have received a few Best Live Band awards, they know how to put on a show, that's for sure.

Me too! I got hooked on them after the Origin of Symmetry album came out and I heard New Born. Bought every album since.

Also, Radiohead just put out another album. I don't think it's as good as In Rainbows, but still, it's Radiohead.

Wow, I thought this was going to be about the American Idols/sugar pop and the like.

What is old is new again.
Some great bands/info you guys have listed.

Really? It's pretty good, different though. Sound's kinda 80's. I saw them live when they opened for Green Day in like 99. That's what got me into them.

Soundgarden! And Tinariwen, a super-rad band from Mali/Libya. That's all I can think of. As for punk rock, I like mine fast and angry. I could never hang with happy, pop punk.
