The Learning Channel - some show about toddler beauty contests

Animal Planet - some show about people who hoard animals

Tru TV - some show about cops chasing bad guys

Travel - some show about boats I wouldn't be able to afford in 10 lifetimes

What ever happened to the shows that taught us stuff about culture, animals and the planet in general? Just a rant but are there no more decent TV stations out there or are we all paying $50 a month to watch crap?

You are so right! We were JUST talking about the 24 hr news stations that show 2 hours of news during the week and recorded news on weekends. And of course MTV. They keep adding channels so they can show a few videos and then immediate it gets infected with a reality show. We have like 5 MTVs and still no videos!

you don't have to pay the $50 to watch TV ... instead you can spend them to go to a gym or something and do something better with your time..... just trying to help :P

the TV is only a manipulative device lately.....

Except movies... that I watch on my plasma..... I don't think I've spent more than 12 hours watching TV in 2010.......... :^)

but still pay the cable............. for the internet + phone lol

I don't know. I dumped my cable almost a year ago and haven't been happier. Since then I've read almost thirty books, dropped forty pounds and I feel less dumb overall...

On the down side I really no longer have anything to discuss with my coworkers....

I used to love Discovery, History, Learning, and The Science Channels

History- use to have History...........now..........Pawn Stores and Chainsaws
Discovery/Learning Channel- used to have a mix of practical sciences........now...........well I stooped watching so long ago I couldn't tell you.

The point is.... they each have strayed so far from their original name sake............. into the same inane slop...................... that they are no longer distinguishable or desirable

I'm likin' PBS more and more these days, especially at night.

Around here we have a choice of 7 different PBS channels so there's
usually a choice of something decent available as far as science,
nature and music are concerned.

And they're FREE over-the-air stations ---- NO cable required!!
