    Human races

I was thinking, while reading a debate on a Norwegian board, about human races.

I believe the only human race is called homo sapiens, and that those who believe in races believe that their race is the most intelligent and superior.

I don't think they'd believe in races if it was proven that "negros", to use their term, were the most intelligent.

So, what are your views on this?

I think there's genetic differences between races, but you'll never see a legitimate study of it due to the stigma involved.

But that's only the look of people. Dogs have different behaviour and interests. People have, but this isn't related to races.

I don't think it's race per say, but more of a social and environmental thing.

We are all created equal, skin color and gender differences are merely genetics, we all have red blood, have the same internal/external similarities and were conceived the same way.

                .....except for Chad of course.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

We are all human. We all have the same basic needs. We all die.

                  Racism is petty.

Wait till the Nazi aliens invade....proving Tom right....then we will nolonger question our minor differences...

                  ....except for Chad of course.

It's just our cultures are different. Different cultures do have different tendencies that are acceptable and nurtured. Those tendencies might be unacceptable in another part of the world. This is becoming noticable through globalisation.

We can't say that whites are like this, blacks are like that, yellow people are like etc etc.

                    .....except for Chad of course.

I do still hate black music though.

I share your sentiment that we are all of the same "species' but it would be ignorant to ignore our differences as well. There are vast physiological and cultural differences amongst various human "races" that are small enough to where they are still considered the same species, but that should not be confused with being the same kind of human being necessarily.

For example, certain asian races grew up around a culture that didn't really utilize alcohol as much as we do in the west. As a result, people like my wife (philipino) lack a certain enzyme in their livers that break down ethanol, which means they can not "hold their liquor" as well. It isn't about inferior or superior, it's just about where each 'race" grew up. Cultures who played nomad in the desert for 10,000 years will come out of it with a totally different culture, world view, perception of reality, and concensus on various issues than would be expected from a race that grew up in More fertile lands for example.

What we as humans forget is that the universe is indifferent, it doesn't care aboutt hings like political correctness. Certain groups of humans developed different survival traits tailored to the regions in which they lived at the time. Those with a different habitat turned out very different. There are some humans who have blue skin, there are some who never grow above 5 feet, there are some who are resistant to certain diseases and at a higher risk of others.

We are all VERY different, but not enough to where it means we're not all human or of different species.

I think what the convo you had was about was people who claim that blacks aren't "as evolved" or something which is complete unscientific nonsense. Neither extreme is right, we're not all equal like they taught you in school, but none of us are "better" than the other races, it's just that everyone adapted to where they grew up, and we all grew up in different palces so we're all a little different.
