Are you guys really proud of the space needle? The avatars ya know? I guess its like where I live now and the Alamo. In the beginning of your local news do they cut to a shot of the beloved needle? I bet when the weather man comes on and they cut to the live shot that needle is there somewhere as well. Do you have a needle festival with a parade and such?
Question to the Seattle people...

Long-range studies will show that unfettered LOS-ing can lead to

manifestations of the disorder!! :^(
LOS-ers beware.

The Space Needle is to Seattle like the Oprah House is to Sydney, or the Eiffel Tower is to Paris, or the Golden Gate Bridge is to San Fran, or the body bag is to Detroit. It's our thing, we are proud of it, it's part of our identity, like salmon.
@Eric Yes, when the news comes on they show the needle, when weather comes on the first shot is of the needle.

Yes, we really are proud of the Space Needle.
... and we're proud of our apples, coffee, cannabis, music, computers and aerospace tech.
Oh, and we're proud of our Seahawks too (12th Man).
Now that I think about it... Seattleites control the world (so you better start to show us some respect)

Notice none of the New Yorkers, Chicagoans, Missourians, or Californians on this site post their most common structure in their avatars, Just saying, that thing may have been built by Aliens and you guys worship it for their sake, again just saying.... Holy shit I spelled Missourians right without spellcheck or google. I can guarantee most Missourians couldn't do that...... Patiently waiting for a response from F.bandersnaatch.......

This thread is the shit. I must confess that I started it to show some Seattle pride and these extraordinary gents showed their Seattle pride in turn. So really I would say it started with my Seattle brothers showing solidarity and representing. Correct me if I'm wrong fellas. Our city really is something to be proud of, come check it out (in the Summer).
As for Needle pride, I would say for me personally it is not about the Space Needle at all. But like the Eiffel Tower for Paris, as coderguy mentioned, it is iconic of Seattle and represents our city in a 75x75 box. In my avatar I also have Mt. Rainier and the King Dome lol. 206!!

You're right Blue, you don't see the pride from others for their home towns, but we Seattlites have it, and show solidarity (a lot of Texans have a habit of showing home town pride too). There are a lot of great things about Seattle (many have already been mentioned).
Also we have a slew of Microbrews too (and and speaking of slew, we had Seattle Slew too).

So where do you Seattle guys live? I know coder lives in Mukilteo. I live just south of the Ballard bridge on the Queen Anne side right next to the ship canal and overlooking the Foss ship yards on Nickerson. It's amazing to me how low-income and crummy that area is being right at the juncture of Queen ANne, Fremont, Ballard and Magnolia, all nice neighborhoods. It's no wonder given the 'round the clock welding and hammering that goes on in the ship yards, the maritime debris, and all the shipping containers strewn about that some people have turned into dwellings. My apartment is ghetto, I need to move. If you live outside the city, how often do y'all come into town?

I only get down there (to Seattle itself) about once a year. I go past it fairly regularly (frequent flyer and all) plus now will be making monthly trips down to Fife to our favorite smoke shop
