The billion dollar question is, why aren't they making these things concrete tombs yet?

You mean like the Chernobyl Sarcophagus?

You can't just bury those things in concrete. Chernobyl's Sarcophagus was/is a disaster and is going to have to be replaced.

Interesting article. And I understand that it is not a permanent solution, but it did help for the last 25 years. Why they haven't done anything since is the 2 billion dollar question.....

The radiation isn't even that bad and the workers who are in there right now will go on to live happy lives. Some of them will have a pretty increased risk of cancer 10 or more years down the line, but that's it and even then it isn't for sure. This is not a suicide mission though (well, sort of though, they increase their risk of getting sick later on).

They aren't burrying it in concrete yet because the situation doens't call for it. There is no threat of it melting down like chernobyle and the amount of radiation it's leaking is minimal. It's enough to where you don't want to stand around it but not enough to kill everyone in the area or anything. The point is that it can still be salvaged. If they bury it in concrete than they admit defeat and they know that will spell doom for the nuclear industry.

Notice 1 thing, all of the real nuclear physicists are saying that this is like 3 mile island and not to worry. Then notice that the media then takes it to
