Hey everyone..I haven't been around here too much lately because I just moved across country and as the subject line states, my 12 y/o golden retriever had to be put down half-way through the trip on March 1st. He was fine, besides being older and having thyroid issues when the move began but when we reached TN, he quit eating one day and was vomiting. The day after that he seemed to be getting better and even ate a little but by the third day while he was urinating I noticed his urine was a very dark rust color which was quite alarming, enough so that next time he peed, I collected some in a cup to take to the vet. Anyway, the vet was concerned by his urine sample and took xrays immediately which revealed a huge, football sized tumor in his abdomen. I've had this dog since he was 8 weeks old so I did not hesitate when the doc suggested surgery to possibly remove the tumor. Anyway..within minutes of opening my pup, the doc came out and told me the worst news - the tumor was all over his digestive system and the rust colored urine was actually internal bleeding and said that I 'had to put the dog down.' I was truly optimistic that the surgery would fix him...I was devastated and still am. Anyway...I had Max cremated and his ashes accompanied us to our new home in WA. Things just suck right now and thanks to all who read this...I'm coping but being in a new place and not knowing anyone does not help the lonliness and sadness.
BTW - I actually quit ALL snus for about 4 days after Max passed..I was just too damned depressed..but I'm back at it, living in one of thee worst tax states it appears.
