Snus and flying stinging evil things.

Okay so, I may very well be showing my "country" here, but, yeah.... when I was a kid and one of the "barbarian horde" got stung by anything, like a wasp, bee, hornet, yellowjacket etc, as soon as the screaming started, we would also have to suffer through a tobacco poltice, ie, chewing tobacco applied to the sting. This was, of course, horrifying to the child in question. Here's the point. One of the flying-stinging-assholes stung my ELBOW today and I broke into Vegan's stash for some sort of tobacco- It not only worked, but is suprisingly much easier to deal with when it is in a tiny little packet of doom. Also, semi-related, WAR HAS BEEN DECLARED ON ALL FLYING-STINGING-ASSHOLES!

Anybody have any more interesting uses for snus?

Would moistened snus work for all stings? Might do that to my kids if they're stung - only if it works of course.

I rubbed snuff on a cut one time to see if it would give me a nic buzz, it burned, but did stop the bleeding.

When I was a kid in elementary school, we had a game where we would each take turns going up to a trash can full of bees and kick it real hard, then run away. Whoever got stung was out. Believe it or not, to this date, I have never been stung by anything.

It has always worked for myself and my entire barbarian horde. Mostly it just puts out the "oh my god who burned me!" feeling.

Tobacco has been used to treat insect stings and bites for hundreds of years. I remember being stung by a wasp when I was a child; my grandma broke up one of her cigarettes and covered the sting with tobacco -- that was my only encounter with a Virginia Slim.

When I was little I had a brain tumor the size of a mellon. We lived far out in the country and there were no doctors within 10 minutes walk. So my mom filled both of my ears with chewing tobacco and 6 months later the tumor completely disappeared. I still have trouble hearing tho.

                  just sayin
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
