Its true Jan. Many people are hungry over there. The young girls will do anything for even $5. Not that I would partake in such activities........

They can pick out a tourist in a heartbeat. We would go to the discos at night. I soon leaned to pretend I was def and mute to aviod the girls. Then one night I was fake hand signing and the girl got all excited and ran to get her friend. Apparently her friend knew sign language. I stood there quietly shrugging my shoulders and such ffor a few minutes. Finally I had to tell her to leave me alone. Boy was she pissed that I could talk and hear.

The discos were great cuz the american tourists could just sit there and the girls would stand in line to dance for us one at a time. They had some pretty sexy dancing. Apparently they figured the best dancer would go home with the tourist and make a few dollars.

Because my friend is manager of Air Jamica, my flights cost me one half [if not free], shipping medicines and electronics and such was free with him. Besides cuba is close, has cigars and is ripe for business opportunities. and lest I forget.......has some hot gals and great beaches.

That's what my dad told me... poverty there is hard to describe.. it is a decade or so since he last visited but he brought soap and essentials like that as "currency" to Cuba.. I am really sorry for them. Life under crazy dictatorships is horrible...

Oh yea I always brought shampoo, deordant, t shirts, candy, and meds. cheap VCRs were like gold.

One time we brought 3/4 ton of candy to the childrens hospital in havana. Boy were they excited. Luckily I had free shipping thru Air Jamica..

Life in Cuba was not so bed in begining of 80's for me i was 8 years old it was the best time of my life))))))
