The only reason it lasted a decade was because there wasn't any competition. MS didn't have to spend money developing until Firefox came along. The main reason it's still around is because of corporate IT, and their glacial rate of change, as well as craptastic proprietary software that REQUIRES the use of antique software. IE7 should have come out in 2003 at the latest.

Maybe. But it still works. You can have a decent Internet experience in IE6.

That link above is for Netscape 6. Give it a shot.
I saw a comparison recently, but it was a bullshit exercise. Development completely stopped in navigator in 2002 with V6.2. IE was kept alive with hacks and additions by web devs to cater to MS's monopoly. So we can thank MS for broken, non-standard web pages created by their lack of progress with web browsers.

OK my pages are definitely loading a lot faster compared to Firefox.

              Firefox & Chrome :^)

Sometimes I have around 50 tabs open and that's when I use Chrome ... Mozilla uses up to much resources and slows down any PC :^)
anyway, just got used on using Chrome most of the time

LoL, I was using IE in 94 :^) I hate it now even if it's largely the most used browser world-wide.

Chrome usually, Firefox occasionally, Safari on IOS, IE for work, I selected other, oh and rarely opera.

However I have been hearing some good things regarding Firefox Version 4

Oh and once in a blue moon links.

I've been using Firefox for a long time, but switched to Chrome pretty recently. Never going back.

Chrome is pretty good but Firefox wins with it's addons etc. I use them a lot.

I've been using firefox for about four years. Started having issues with version three and up ("plugin container for firefox has crashed") only happened while watching videos every now and again. Just upgraded to version four a couple minutes ago. So far i like the clean look of it. Hopefully i don't have to deal with the plugin crap again.

I've recently switched allegiance from Firefox to Chrome, it's a great little stripped down, bare-bones browser.

There's nothing like Firefox Extensions (add-ons) to save your sanity...

AdBlockPlus, alone, is worth the price (and it's even a squirrel/rodent killer -- lol).

And you can make Firefox as bare-bones as you like.

                            I'm confused about this.
I have Windows XP. What is that?
But I know I have IE also?
I got a message in my email to upgrade to IE9.
Is IE different than Windows XP?

I really didn't know. It says I am using IE8, and am not compatible with IE9.

IE 9 isn't compatible with XP. Idiotic move by MS, if you ask me.
