Sgreger I think the plants in Japan are some of the oldest ones still active. I am more than sure that the plants we use here in the US are much more safe than Japan's.
There are new cars with airbags and older cars without..... Almost the same diff here

Yah they are over 40 years old. The fact that they have held up this well is a testament to their design. Especially with new reactors that weren't built a generation ago, there is almost no risk of anything happening. I think modern nuke facilities are some of the safest means of bulk energy production available to us.

I was reading an article about biopetroleum, and how researchers in Spain have said that they are ready to go into production in 5-10 years. It sounded interesting.
