    Help! Shipping questions...

First off, I have never gone to a post office to ship a package, yeah sad but whatever. Someone bought a video game from me off Ebay today.

Tell me if what I have in my head is the correct way. Walk in with the (1) video game and piece of paper of the address to reference later. Find the correct envelope before talking to someone, write the address to ship to, along with mine. Bring it up to the counter and let them determine how much it will cost based on weight...?

It's less than 12 ounces so would USPS First Class be best? From what I gathered, it SHOULD be less than $3.00? It's being shipped within the United States. Also is first class a flat rate envelope or can I just pick out any ol' envelope they have? Thanks.

For games/dvds and the sort, I use a bubble envelope, slap an address on, walk in and simply say I need this to reach said destination by whatever date that you've determined. It's quick and easy. Never more than a few bucks.

Can't you request USPS to send bubble envelopes to your house at no charge? Can't seem to find a link if that's true.

EDIT: If not, do they have plain bubble envelopes at the post office that aren't flat rate envelopes?

While were talking about shipping, I'm sending out Precious's dip tomorrow USPS. 20 cans, 3 lbs. What should I creatively put on the declaration. I was thinking "collectible containers".

          Yes. They are bubble mailers.

They also have DVD boxes and it might qualify for media rate....but ask. When in doubt ask a postal worker.....or they will make you do it over anyway.

Also....you may have to purchase the item you are mailing it in.

            "Precious Cargo"

EDIT: Thanks for the replies. From what I gathered, video games don't qualify as 'media mail'. And it looked like first class was cheaper somehow at around 2 bucks while media mail was 50 cents more. I'll just pick up a bubble mailer and fill out the address, bring it up to the counter and see what happens.

                "Kiddie porn" lol

If people are sending frikkin shrooms and pot through USPS I'm pretty sure I can send dip to Romania. I even though about putting "cigars" since they aren't affected by PACT

I would say to put 'collectible tins' on the declaration, that way if they do open it and check, they will see the 'collectible tins' and it is just pure coincidence that the still contain tobacco. I know you can sell 'vintage' cigarette and tobacco products on ebay that are sealed and still contain the tobacco as long as you specify that the auction is for the packaging and the tobacco is not for consumption.

That's probably what I'm going to do. Opening the collectible tin would seriously lower it's value!

Since it was a ebay auction I would pick up delivery confirmation. I think it's under $1.

Its being shipped within the usa. there is no reason to declare anything. Just wrap it up and send the dam thing.

and get delivery confirmation so the buyer can't say he never got it.

Ok hunnybuns......then you can write "snoose item" in tiny letters on the customs form and put a low declared total value on it like 50 cents per tin. 20 tins =$10.

you better pay the big bucks for signature confirmation cuz I hear Precious is planning on ripping you off on this first shipment. You know how those Romanians are......
