Calling all Vancouver BC heads for travel tips

Hey Vancouver BC residents and past travelers to the city,

My girlfriend and I are headed up north this weekend to celebrate an anniversary. As stupid as it is being less than 3 hours away, I have not visited the 'Couv since I was 16. Do any of you have any insider recommendations for what we ought to do in our short time there? My girl wants to go to the market on Granville Island, I want to go to a smoke shop and get a few Cubans, we're going to Sun Sui Wah for dim sum one morning and Vij's for some reportedly fantastic Indian food, and that's the extent of our plans.

Is Lynn Canyon park worth the trip? Our hotel is near Stanley Park so we'll probably head there for an afternoon stroll. I'd love to get out on the water somehow, like maybe rent some kayaks if it's not raining, or maybe just take a ferry somewhere? Please let me know if any of you have an recommendations. Thanks! ~ Roo

Well screw it then, I'll figure it out myself. Been drinking beer in my hotel room for a couple hours now, about to venture out and get some French food, then get lost in downtown Vancouver with my girl in the "Entertainment District"... sounds scary. We're celebrating 13 years together...

This is a cool city. There is no main thoroughfare freeway into downtown, you just cruise through some shady old neighborhoods past hookers and crackheads until you get here. Pretty awesome. We saw a dude as we came into town who had just finished hitting the crackpipe, still in hand, and he was convulsing, damn-near seizing, due to the awesome power of the cracksmoke he had just inhaled. Lol what's up, Canada.
